SCP-1762 is a Neutralized anomaly also known as Where The Dragons Went.
SCP 1762 is a plain, cardboard box that is 32 cm x 20 cm x 26 cm. It is spray-painted silver on the interior and exterior, and the words HERE BE DRAGONS are handwritten in black permanent marker on the container. SCP1762 will infrequently open and initiate a release of origami models that bear resemblance to various types of dragons, in both Eastern and Western depictions.

Neutralization is rarely the best outcome. If the foundation would want to Neutralize an anomaly (such as 096 or 682), it usually means the creature is powerful and dangerous enough that neutralization is impossible. A majority of neutralizations are tragic, as even when the creature is dangerous, neutralization means just a little less magic and wonder in the world of the foundation. If you want to cry go and read the tale "Quiet Days" which takes place after an event that cause ALL the SCPs to be neutralized. It is easily the most bittersweet and tearjerker thing the foundation has to offer.

This would imply that humanities imagination and creativity created a realm where these creatures that we imagined lived. We loved them and they loved us. But as humanity became less and less creative and darker, Fantasy slowly fell into chaos. The box was Fantasy’s way of communicating to us, in hope that our creativity would increase once again. But as it didn’t, war broke out. It is now Fantasy’s hope that humanity becomes creative as it once was, and that could heal the link between our world, and Fantasy. Idk...that was just my interpretation of the story

I think you're on to something. Fantasy might as well be a concept in which manifested as an entire reality out from human imagination and dreams. It must have derived it source from a time where humans were more content in living than being delirious in present time where society is so heavily engrossed in the darker aspect of reality. Anything from the media and internet could make someone stupider and vastly ignorant. Where politics and news twist lie and truths and individualism is sprawled apart. Fantasy was losing it's touch as humans went to a more darker and gloomier path than accepting the day as it is. Even if Fantasy were to return, it would be a cycle of rebirth and destruction as it depends on humanity's concept.

I’m just gonna.. December, 12, 2031. It seemed that the entire foundation had forgotten all about SCP-1762. Except one.. MTF member: Ryan Rindoof, He liked to pretend that the dragons whom had once came from the box still existed though the rest of his team liked to tease him about his silly thoughts.. but soon that thought were confirmed by one purple book that left the box before the box exploded into a ray of colour. Ryan Rindoof was the one witness of the event, the book was taken in and when opened had the diary entry of a being perhaps from the world of fantasy. “The Townsfolk believe that this withered old home was once home to the dragon people and the giants, I don’t really know anymore. There’s an old man who lives here, man says he was the leader and that there are people who come from this box.. how does he know that? Is it even confirmed? The box looks damaged, burnt even! Why am I writing this? If the people of whom the man speaks of are reading this then… Hello, Friends.”

This feels like a representation of our imagination as time passes. When we are children, we have an endless sea of imagination and fantasy. As time passes, we tend to stray away from our imagination and reality takes its place. It eventually gets to the point where trying to use our imagination later in life, starts to become a challenge. We eventually stop trying and focus on reality. We never revisit our childhood fantasies afterwards. Of course, this may vary from person to person. For most, this is usually the path our imagination goes (more or less). Sorry to all of the younger people and those that have not experienced this realization yet. To everyone that has gotten to this point, don’t let your imagination die out keep the sea of imagination flowing no matter how old you are, how busy or stressed your life becomes, etc. By doing this your fantasy won’t end up like this SCP’s tale. Theory: dragons, giants, elves and humans all were together on one planet but then they were separated to different places they called rooms and that box was a kind of portal the rooms also had challenges for the people they contained like our world has SCP’s, but dragons wanted peace and didn’t want to fight in their world that’s why they were sending messages like elves and giants insist on fighting but the dragons asked them not to fight and that humans will make a bigger box so that the giants, elves and dragons can go back and live together again.

Good theory! I think the box was simply a metaphor. The massive landscape of Fantasy and all its denizens was our imagination as children, and we lived as one together. As adults however we didn't maintain our imagination and as we got older still found it more and more difficult to visit Fantasy at all. So, it crumbled and eventually died.

This is not just the death of a few dragons. This story truly explains the slow and steady disassembly of the imagination, replacing childhood creativity with robotic STEM consumerism, replacing art classes with calculus lectures. It is the consistent medication of the energetic, the shunning of the creative and eccentric, the silencing of the poet's pen, replacing it with useless information that we will never need forced upon us instead of the true necessities. It's everywhere.

Oh my God, I cried! I’m not kidding! I cried to this short animation with infographics style! I never thought I would be so deeply moved by an SCP story. I started sobbing right in the middle of it! The best part is that it’s not a tragedy-only story, as it has a bittersweet ending. I believe our room is our imagination and actual faith in the world of Fantasy. It has grown small and our family dumb, ignorant and selfish. But as long as there are people with faith in Fantasy, there is a hope. They shall not be forgotten. I believe in Fantasy. Say it with me! And let’s hope one day we can reunite with our friends.

If we were to go by what they meant by, "It's strange how your world has changed and how we appear in this world, in fantasy we're much bigger" and the name of their world being Fantasy, i think you pretty much are correct In the modern day + SCP universe, humanities "thoughts and beliefs" are based entirely on science and rationality. We believe in dinosaurs, cause there are fossils to prove they existed, but if the dragons and other races have all gone to Fantasy and the only real thing to prove they existed were merely stories and legends, which by modern standards are merely interesting and are entertained by them, no one REALLY AND TRULY believes that they are real.

I feel that if they just decorated the containment room into something more colorful and imaginative. Something that can entertain younger children with bright colored streamers and cool colored walls... This SCP would've lived on. They were talking about "restoring the room" and even referred to fantasy as "your creation" so it could make a lot of sense to decorate it and have everything be okay.

So my explanation: In the past fictional creatures were real and existed with us, but for some reason it was necessary for them to be moved into a parallel world. After they were moved a series of rooms where you could cross between dimensions were built, but somehow humanity forgot about them and they fell into disrepair. It seems that as a self repair mechanism the last room turned itself into a shrunken box and delivered it to the closest thing to a magic society remaining, the SCP Foundation, in the hopes that they could repair it, but they failed. The dragons were more suited for crossing the dimensional boundary than other creatures so they were sent through as messengers to try and speak to us, but even they could only animate as small paper dragons with the disrepair of our room (the box). Eventually conflict begins because the rest of the species want to see humanity and travel and feel the dragons are lying to them or holding them back, and this only gets worse as the giants die when they go through the portal. Eventually this leads to a war, with the dragons and a few other races defending our room VS the other races angrily trying to force access to our realm. This concludes with the dragons barely winning and a peace treaty being signed, and some wise authority figure making the decision that the humans were becoming dehabilitating to the peace of fantasy and having the various races move into a different dimension and making them cut ties with humanity. The dragons are currently rebuilding somewhere far away from us with what races are left (hopefully every one except the giants, centaurs, and birds).

The dragons are (or were) big and tall as they originally are, but through our imagination in our dimension, they are mere figures of novelty and paper, and written myths. That's why they appeares as Origami papers. We lost the access to the Room because we forgot about it and began to stop believing in what the Room (which is a kind of bridge that connects Fantasy with Human world) holds. It was once a big temple, with big gates that lead to a big bridge that humans and Fantasy inhabitants can easily travel back and forth, but as beliefs start to fade, it slowly shrink into a paper box. Those kind of boxes that people use to content files and books and papers.

The box was made by a child, the world was created using by the belief, the belief of fantasy. Big time. But the child suddenly started to grow up and mature, not wanting to do fantasy. No amount of scientific funding would have helped, or searching for some location. The room was the imagination that adults let die as they get older. As children they fueled and lived side by side with Fantasy just like the rest of us. As adults they had lost their imagination, and reality took the place of wonder. It was too late, they had forgotten how to help. It's a cautionary tale, so that we might keep the dragons alive. That was my interpretation.

These Fantasy SCPs are really something. There is another one concerning a dragon. As the world understood more, it shrank in power. Trapped in a cave by the Foundation, studied and diminished by their study. Finally it decided to soar the skies again, in defiance of the Foundation. They killed it of course, but the dragon's actions weren't fruitless. The Foundation suddenly found signs of more dragons in the world. Fantasy had been rekindled.
