Күн бұрын

SCP 2376 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Crow's Revenge.
SCP-2376 is a sub-strain of tetanus carried by the common crow.
SCP2376 infected humans are designated instances of SCP-2376-1.
The first stage of infection, lasting anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks, is characterized by the normal symptoms of tetanus.
The second stage of the infection is when SCP-2376's anomalous properties manifest. All instances of SCP-2376-1 are perceived as a normal, inanimate scarecrow by any human observers. The observers do not appear to be aware that the infected individual is missing, or that the scarecrow has replaced it.

Don't forget that with the many different writers for the Foundation's entries, their levels of ruthlessness is bound to vary dramatically. Some will have them as fairly reasonable, while for others they practically stride the line between stupidity and insanity. I've personally learned to just chalk it up as: "If all entries are canon, and so is parallel universes - then the stories where the Foundation does incomprehensibly stupid things are in those universes where things are just far less fortunate for everyone."

This SCP is actually really interesting and creative. It basically puts you in the perspective of a crow looking at a scarecrow but the other way around. Instead of seeing a humanlike figure that only moves when you aren't looking, it's instead an inaminate figure. Crows basically said "ok you know what? See what it's like in my shoes for once"

1:45 this brings up a point I have been questioning for a while. Anomalies are anomalies because they defy our laws of physics in some way but what if our laws are just wrong? We used to believe that the Sun revolves around Earth but that was changed due to scientific advancement. That begs the question: If the laws of physics changed in the future, could that cause some anomalies to be re classified as normal?
@Master_E444
@Master_E444 2 жыл бұрын
Anomalies that are understood due to breakthroughs in scientific studies and research are designated as Explained. There was a dice that was believed to cause D&D based hallucinations but really it was lined with standard hallucinogens. There was also a rock that emitted radiation in high quantities, later identified as a simple radioactive element. There are likely many more things that were considered anomalous until recent advancements in our understanding
@arlenfreeman3439
@arlenfreeman3439 Жыл бұрын
@@Master_E444 And part of the Foundation's mission is to find out how these anomalies do or do not violate science. If they can figure out how and why it works, they can quietly and gradually slip a few "discoveries" on the nature of the universe to the public without breaking the veil.

They also said that SCP-2376-1 instances' movement can't be perceived while being looked at, but they can still move, & than in every part of the video other than early in the video, they didn't move while being looked at. They said that you have to intentionally close your eyes to see any movement & that you can't see their movement in videos, but if they could still move while being looked at & it just wouldn't be perceived, then automatic blinking would be enough to make their movement visable, & they could make their movement visable on videos by simply making every other frame a black screen. An easy fix would be to simply say that they can't move while being looked at. The part about having to close your eyes every 5 minutes & see if they type anything would still make sense because close your eyes is vague, so the amount of time is only limited by context, so in this case it could mean anything from 1 second to 30 seconds, & 30 seconds is probably enough time for a SCP-2376-1 instance type something.

Obviously the scarecrow/mannequin part is based on factors in the environment, if an urban outbreak causes observers to see the patients as mannequins and a rural strain causes scarecrows. At least the patient care is the same for both.

@@justacanofapples8885 maybe that is part of the anomaly, the moment you are touched by someone that isn't infected, you are rendered motionless. Also people blink all the time, therefore you can get an image of where the scarecrow may be at, grab it, and throw it out. Even if the person tries to escape, they wont since the person has them around there arms and as long as they do that, the scare crow will be in there hands. That is the part that is anomalous which is why one cannot explain it very well so it makes there are gigantic holes in the explanation, and why I'm struggling I explain what is happening.

Hey what if we added a strobe light or just started blinking alot. Unless it has to be a 5 minute delay couldn't we see every other part of the scarecrows movement if we constantly see it in and out of view
@PoliceTelephoneBox
@PoliceTelephoneBox 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, plus they should try film cameras instead of digital cameras. Or you might need more of a time lapse effect, but likely you'd be able to see the "scarecrow" moving in what appeared to be stop motion.

I know a lot of people don't really listen to the music being played behind the voice acting, but I can hear one track that sounds very similar to the tune "somebody come get her, she's dancing like a..." You get the picture.

What if the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz wasn't a scarecrow, but actually an instance of 2376?
@Soviniy
@Soviniy 2 жыл бұрын
I'm still just trying to understand- do the instances move around, and the change is only perceived after looking away- or can they not move at all when looked at? Because the explanation at first made it seem like the first option was the case, which makes no sense as to how people could have moved the scarecrows around.

First of all Clostridium tetani is a bacteria, and it causes symptoms by producing toxins(which they correct later in the video, sorta.) However much like botulism there are medical uses for those toxins. And it is still absolutely fascinating the think a bacteria or virus could become memetic.

how exactly are scarecrow people getting nailed up and thrown in dumpsters and stuff? I thought they could still move just fine it was just hard for people to perceive, hell it should have been near impossible to catch them you'd basically be interacting with their after image at best
