Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation KETER Class object, SCP-6096 - Blanket Ghost Animation.
Join the DR BOB SQUAD by going to / drbob and become an Honorary Member of the Dr. Bob Research Staff!
SCP-6096 is an entity, presumably humanoid in shape, the body of which is perpetually concealed underneath a large cotton sheet.
Due to the presence of this sheet, a full physical description of SCP 6096 is not possible. Superficial analysis of the entity, however, indicates that SCP6096 is 1.55m tall and weighs approximately 48kg. The sheet covering SCP-6096 is larger than the actual body, and typically trails at least a meter behind it when it is mobile. Personnel have been unable to attempt to remove this sheet in order to obtain a more accurate description.
No living being can consciously take an action which would result in harm coming to SCP-6096.
When SCP-6096 physically reaches the target, it will subsume them underneath its cotton sheet. In cases where the victim is conscious, they can be seen and heard struggling against SCP-6096 underneath the sheet for a period ranging from twenty to fourty minutes, after which they will disappear entirely. The cries of distress emitted by these victims suggest that this process is extremely painful.

Fortunately Site 100 (Keter Duty) found a solution to the problem: have SCP-6096 cross paths with SCP-920 (AKA Mr. Lost). Since anyone who sees 6096 during its hunting cycle is compelled to help it, SCP-920 tried to help it find its victim, but since nobody travelling with 920 ever reaches their intended destination, the two just got lost.

the victims aren't random, or at least they are in a specific pool of victims separate from the wider populace; these victims are the few that can resist SCP-6069's effects and therefore are a threat to it, SCP-6069 is culling the populace of those who can fight back against it.

I also thought the same thing, if there was a way to recognize the pattern of people who are capable of defending themselves against this thing then I would imagine it's a simple matter of informing them of their fate and hoping that one of these poor bastards will be able to destroy it or something akin to that
@driddick7361

What makes you think that it purely isn't random? There has been examples of stranger rules to magic in the SCP lore. Like that store that LEGALIZED it's own inner reality. Perhaps it's one of those awkward rules, as long as they aren't the target, they can be controlled. We haven't necessarily heard of an instance where it went after the people that assisted it in prior captures(at least I hope it's just capturing people.)

SCP-6096 really is one of the most fascinating SCP's despite how "simple" it is. It's in a similar vein with SCP-2740 in the sense of "fear of the unknown". What does 6096 want? What happens when it "subsumes" its targets? And why does it select specific people? Does it go after other SCP's as well? The possibilities are practically endless and it really does create an air of mystery surrounding it. And of course, you have the horror aspects in general. I haven't read the article on it in a long time.. but I can't believe I forgot about the detail in the welcome notice. Christ, I'm glad there was only a small glimpse of that maternity ward. It doesn't matter what your race, height, weight gender or _age_ is. When it selects a target, there is no escape. And there's literally *nothing* that can stop it from reaching its goal. Sans some act of god (or indirect attack led by another organization; or AI). Another great one, Doc. Can't wait for the next dose of nightmare fuel.

If you think about it, maybe the reason world ending scenarios don't happen is because of 6096? Maybe in a subconscious level, other SCPS can't really end the world because they can't harm SCP 6096 either. So the foundation protecting it may not really be such a bad thing? Some things that about this SCP I find very interesting… It’s number 6096, 096 is the number designation for The Shy Guy. Now what do these anomalies have in common? Both anomalies have a target they travel to, the only difference is Shy Guy is triggered when you see a photo of his face, The Guest randomly goes to their target without triggering anything (which is horrifying for not knowing when you’ll be the target) I have a theory that SCP-6096 is an alternative of The Shy Guy in another world, or for those who have read SCP-5555, The Shy Guy was put into the pit, thus creating a new version of itself
@LocalOrangutan
@LocalOrangutan Жыл бұрын
Another thing that might be worth noting is how the Shy Guy becomes visibly upset upon it's face being viewed. Whereas in contrast to SCP-6096, nobody knows what it truly looks like underneath the sheet. In relation to your theory, this might explain why SCP-6096 is relatively calm and co-operative with the foundation.

@@deangelosummers7717 Yeah. That's why I think they are going a bit too far into thinking that nothing can be done. Sure, no one is able to prevent it from doing what it wants to or anything like that but for God's sake, there are MANY people, either be it as you said trained soldier, gun nut or even a mentally unstable guy, murderer or another psycho who would have no issue attacking whoever is holding them down. And, if by any chance, the only person or maybe 2-3 people helping SCP-6096 at the time are some people who are weak, like elderly people, people with disabilities such as missing limbs or partially paralysed, maybe someone who just never trained much to become strong person, I can't imagine it would be too hard to take the thing down. The only bad thing about this all is that it's sadly all luck, whether this can happen or not - This ghost anomaly simply must find itself in the wrong place at wrong time, targetting the wrong person. Also, please don't take my comment seriously - I don't mean to say that anyone, be it a murderer or psycho, or especially someone normal but weak deserves to be killed - I'm saying this all only because I'm also wondering what situation would need to occur to get this thing done for by it's own bad choice of target as I'm sure it's possible and plenty of people could defend themselves. Heck, even someone who, I don't know, is a muscular guy and is big fan of fighting techniques like judo, karate and could just get themselves out of embrace of anyone who holds 'em back for 6096.

This is one of my favourites. First you could tell it was a challenge to someone who wanted to make a scary monster based on one of the lamest costume ideas. It’s simple, too the point, and there is nothing you can do. Second, It really shows how the SCP foundation will follow it’s mantra. All they can do is assign a task force to minimize exposure. Until someone finds that loophole there is really nothing they can do Both in the SCP universe and in general, this whole entry is just creepy 😱

Interestingly enough, there is a canon where this anomaly was permanently contained... by sheer accident According to Project Isorropía, during the transporting of SCP-6096, BY A BLURSED MIRACLE, they encounter SCP-920 (AKA Mr. Lost) who basically decided (likely thanks to SCP-6096's effect) to help them find their next victim. You can probably figure out what happened next

My headcanon is: whatever is under that sheet is extremely gorgeous. Gorgeous enough that it is completely irresistible. its effects may put the image of whatever is under the sheet in their heads causing it to assist said entity (though it is definitely platonic in a way) How does it kill though? I assume its psychic damage to the pain receptors making the target feeling like its in extreme pain and killing target due to stress

Since the Foundation is able to send a task force to 6096's intended targets, they obviously have found a way to determine who 6096's target's are and be able to take an intended target to an isolated area with weapons already placed there (I'm thinking a flamethrower and a bomb) to prepare the target to fight back. Of course the task force would have get as far away as possible to prevent 6096's "help me because I'm too much of a coward for a fair fight" anomalist ability to take effect. That ability must have a limit to it's range. But even if the Foundation doesn't know the exact target, 6096's targeting someone in a small enough town would be the perfect opportunity to finally have someone fight back against it.

I would use other dangerous anomalies to attack 6096, just to see what would work. Leave it in a room with Shy Guy, the Old Man, the Sculpture, Hard To Destroy Reptile, trap it in an alternate dimension, or use a reality warper to erase it or weaken it.
@OmniGman
@OmniGman Жыл бұрын
You can't intentionally plot to harm it, to indirectly expose it to harm, or even to indirectly inconvenience it! That's why the taskforce leader stated the higher-ups couldn't demote him even if they wanted to. He is so good at his job, removing him from his post counts as 'harming/inconveniencing' the creature by making it slightly more difficult to reach its targets, so it won't let them fire him! Even the very leaders of the SCP Foundation are affected by its ability! The only workaround is if you don't know about it when making your attack, but its ability makes it so people who do know about it can't even try to lure others who might be able to harm it to its location! The taskforce leader mentioned he couldn't inform any AI about the creature's existence, so he hopes that means AI are immune to its protect-me compulsion, because the creature's protection compulsion won't let him warn any AI about its existence. Basically, any idea you could come up with automatically fails because as long as you know about the SCP, you are somehow prevented from trying to enact said plan!
@geardog24
@geardog24 Жыл бұрын
@OmniGman that's why I wrote about using anomalies, especially reality bender, since many of them can fight back against the mind altering effects 6096 causes. The agents can't physically do anything to it, but talking about it in front of a powerful being that wants to help is always an option. As for A.I., they can create something similar to the one that captured "Where's Waldo". The trick is not to alert the researchers on what the A.I. is for until the moment of activation.
@OmniGman
@OmniGman Жыл бұрын
@@geardog24 The problem with that idea that I tried to explain to you in my earlier post is that you literally can't. The moment you think, "Oh, this would be a method to defeat the creature", it's power kicks in and you become incapable of enacting said plan. This includes plans that involve siccing others who might be immune to its protection compulsion on it. You can't just discuss the SCP where those who are immune can potentially overhear, because its power knows you are indirectly trying to get rid of it, so it won't let you. That's why you can't just order someone to make an AI that can kill it without telling them what said AI for. The power knows you are trying to get someone to make an AI to defeat it indirectly, so you literally aren't allowed to give that order to the programmer. The things that are immune to its power have to stumble upon it by chance/coincidence, not by intentional design from those aren't immune. That's how its power works. Any idea you come up with to work around its power or get someone else who can is prohibited by its anomalous effect.
@geardog24
@geardog24 Жыл бұрын
@OmniGman As I explained, it doesn't stop people from talking or writing about it. If that were true, the Foundation wouldn't even have any information on it. 6096 may stop your actions against it, but not your thoughts or words. So all it takes is a being with greater power or an advanced A.I. built by someone with no knowledge of the target, thanks to word of mouth, and it's done.
@OmniGman
@OmniGman Жыл бұрын
@@geardog24 You can't intentionally share information about it with someone who might be immune. Those who might be immune have to stumble upon said information by sheer chance. That is my point. Intentionally spreading information about it randomly, in hopes that someone/something that is immune sees said info, counts as plotting against it, so its auto-protection kicks in and prevents you from spreading the info in such a manner. You can document details about it all you want, and share the info with those who aren't immube to the effect, but you can't share that info with something that might be both immune to its anomalous effect and willing to harm it. Its power can somehow make that distinction, even if it isn't present. They explain this in the video. That's why the taskforce leader says its only real weakness is coincidence. He couldn't intentionally contact one of the foundation's AI, nor place the info where an AI could potentially stumble upon it. They need to be unknowingly hacked by said AI (or whaever outside force is immune). Its protection is a lot more thorough than are giving it credit for. If you're not immune to its effect and you think, "This could work as a means of circumventing its effect", you literally become incapable of even trying out said plan. If you could do as you suggested, it would mean you are already immune to its effect yourself. Dr. Bob can essentially only tell us about the SCP because both he, and us, are not immune to the effect. If some random AI or anomalous being where actually capable of stumbling upon the video by chance, he wouldn't be capable of putting it up in the first place. Its only weakness is sheer bad luck.

Okay so new idea, what if we told a reality warper that that they are SCP 6096s next target. Then give them a bucket and tell them that as long as they wear the bucket they will not be able to be harmed. I don't know if this was like a real thing, but I know I saw a sketch about this reality warper who has the ability to make whatever they believe becomes reality and because they're dumb you could simply tell them that a bucket on their head makes them bullet proof. Again don't know if that's real in the foundation but I think it would be cool. If you know the sketch please tell me also if you know if that's like a real SCP please tell me.
