As someone who works on one of these designed to chew up cars and vans, its interesting seeing it on a small scale.

consider a system that takes ALL the material down to 100 or 200mesh- , so the particles are all the same size. Even if it requires switching out mill screens and running several times. Then, put more grade dividers on the table to get a better grading effect, and run each grade on the table at least twice to get the highest true grade possible. Classifying the material before running across the table will keep the particles the same size and will keep trash out of the high grade material. Running each grade a second time, on it's own, on the table, should give you finer gravity separation of the different metals. Any magnetic separation should be done AFTER the full size reduction, but should not be necessary if the grades are classified and individually run a second or third time each. The ferrous should separate from the non-ferrous due to difference in Specific Gravity. Table angle and flow may have to be adjusted when you get down to clean metals to get sufficient separation.

Very good detailed informative video... you guys keep making your machines beefier and beefier... one question though why do you turn the big 6 inch shaft down to smaller ends.... 6 inch bearings with a 6 inch shaft sounds more stronger... just curious
@mbmmllc
@mbmmllc 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike. The 6" shaft gives the strength, and turning down the ends doesn't compromise strength, but the bearings are A LOT cheaper.

Wish you guys were closer , you need to come look at ours. Needs to be more efficient, and not destroy it self so quick. Also its 3x bigger that this one in the video. 150hp 24" rotor, 3" wide hammers about 30lbs each.

I see your design doesn't use anvils. Does this wear your screens quicker?

Hey im curious but do you have a hammer mill that is small that is light weight and will only run wood and wood products? Im thinking about using one to mount to my pickup which feeds into a wood gasifier.

no hard facing on the rotors? is the rotors made of S355JR or hardox400,
@metalworksmachineshop
@metalworksmachineshop 4 жыл бұрын
They would advise doing it but most all companies dont , because they want your business on replacement parts. I use a high chrome rod on our machine. Our hammers are also AR500 3" wide. Our screen is also AR400. and the feed box is made of .500 thick AR 400with 1" liners and a mag, anvil.

AR400, the rotors last a really long time in scrap operations. Thanks for the question

What is the Rockwell hardness that you use for the hammers, screens, and walls?
@metalworksmachineshop
@metalworksmachineshop 4 жыл бұрын
The hammers are self hardening. They will go to 600R + is a few days. The AR400 is about the same. The bad thing about the hammers is the shaft hole will stretch over time and ware out the bar and cam or brake the bar if its 4140 , 4150 bar should be used for very long life.
