Scrap Wood to Tic Tac Toe Board // Wooden Game Build // Woodworking with Kids

Woodworking projects don't have to be big and complex. We turned some scrap wood from my grandfather's shop into a fun wooden game of Tic Tac Toe. This is a great hands-on building project for kids too! Remember that kids need your supervision to learn how to be safe with power tools.

This one was a good project to help kick things off. It was pretty easy to make, gave my daughter some hands on experience, and gave us something to play that has more history to it than any store bought item. Having a helper looks like it makes it a lot easier to catch all those bits that come off from the forstner bits! Great job, and a fun little project :)

I like your simple dowel cutting method! I havent tried cutting dowels but using a pencil tip to hold smaller pieces works but is a bit freaky. :)

Hey I'm a Maker This method does work quite well. Another way to hold small pieces is to use a sacrificial holder, something that can hold it down while also getting cut.

Thank you! We used strips that were 2 inches wide. I cut the board square and positioned the lines over the seams. This is kind of a “work with what you have” project, so don’t be afraid to use whatever you have laying around that would give you a size you’re happy with. Most importantly, have fun with your daughter!
