Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Suggestion: non-rigid vehicles. Hinges everywhere, so your vehicles adapts to the curvature of the ground.

sounds great, til you factor in the multiplayer. that'll make it laggy for them with all the physics calculations on any hinge intensive vehicle.

Scrapman, I think you should revisit drifting in Trailmakers. Remember the glitch with the bike wheel and the motorcycle wheel. Does it still work? If so, a multiplayer drifting challenge would be awesome!

Maybe have a challenge of 2 teams having to complete a race track in not only the best time, but while drifting as close to each other as possible while avoiding collisions.

@@-aid4084aren't the new tire changes purely cosmetic? Like the wheel sink being fixed isn't actually doing anything, it just bends the bottom of the tire to make it look like it isn't in the ground. It was mentioned in dev diary.

Suggestion: supersonic plane battle, the only time you can fire is when going above the sound barrier Might be interesting to see avoiding air collisions but also interesting on how you have to adapt to the speed

Seeing the snowball launcher in use again, you should do an "unusual weapons battle". Ground vehicles with 20 power core limit and 200 blocks. Snowball launcher, concrete wall launchers (like tron but again), beachball launchers and metal crate launchers as weapons. Edit: Also do a "engineering" challenge, where you experiment with forms of distraction during an air battle. For example, confusing your opponent with smoke

That race at the end makes me want to see a ski battle race but with snowball launchers instead of weapons. Have like a set speed y'all can go and a booster for the person who is in last. Could be fun.

You should do a game of tag on the airborne or high seas map with 3+ players. Each player can build 2-3 vehicle to fit the map you use.

Idea: Vehicle battle. Just build anything that will hopefully get you the win. Let's see Howmush destruction we can see when you're only limited to your imagination (and the 700 block limit). Maybe build a plane with 5 of every weapon? Maybe build a truck with 20 miniguns on the back. Or maybe build a submarine that can fly so you can hide under the water. I think it's will be fun too see what everyone comes up with.

The way how scrapman’s vehicle changes differently depending on how it is damage makes me want them to battle where there are vehicles within vehicles within vehicles. So basically their vehicle has 3 lives

Spacebound idea - Like the board game "Galaxy Trucker" in Trailmakers. There are three rounds, each round you increase your block and power core limit and go through the three guns: smart, mini, rockets. You must then fly through a predetermined course filled with asteroid fields and places to collect cargo (such as planets and/or other ships). There could also be teams; one or two people are out in the course acting as the equivalent to the game's smugglers/pirates/slavers and trying to destroy the one or two people trying to get to the end. This could also work well, maybe even better, in Scrap Mechanic if you use land vehicles instead

You guys should try a train battle. Each module added after each round. You also don't have to do it just on the ground. Blimp-trains, water trains, ect. I think that a limit of 100 blocks per segment would work well.

I think you should have more multiple-weapon battles it gives more creative control, e.g. do you put both at front, or one front and one back? or both to the side? etc, which can heavily effect the results

Crab-moving vehicles. And what I mean is: you have wheels, but your seat and weapons are mounted on a 90 degree angle (no turrets allowed) so when you try to go forward the whole thing strafes right/left.

I have like a few ideas. FIrst, to follow up this challenge, sled pod racing. You know how we are about to get, bsically, star ship parts? Maybe you guys can custome some planes and jets to see what you can make as your own starships. first dragon jets, then the next video do jet turbines, propellers, etc. You guys with more players do space battles and then a star ship race that you have to weave through the mountains. actually, I never see you guys do a plane race.

Id love to see this sled design where the main pod has wheels and the sleds detatch and the detatched pieces explode on the enemy. Then if you loose wheels have some wongs come out and fly to escape. Might as well find a way to drop out of the sky and swim under water too lol

Next Idea: 4 person sleds (operated by 2 people) chased by planes (2 planes) with the goal of best time. Sled would have driver/1 weapon on back while planes can only shoot snowballs down at them. Best time for sled times (both players alternate positions) wins. Sleds can only use thrusters/sled pieces like in this video for propulsion. And while I don't think it'll work at least try to see if you can make the snowball launcher work as the sled weapon too to fire at planes (I don't think they'd get the required height though to hit a plane...can always do another vehicle too I guess if nothing else (motorcycle, car, glider, etc))...hell you can even save this idea for Christmas to work on getting anti air snowball dispensers to work and it'd fit the season too.

no restriction battles! im talkin dog fights, battle bots, tank battles etc. you could make a max complexity and 99 power core tank with armor plating throughout vs a tiny 9 power core vehicle with glitches galore. doesnt matter, so long as it follows the theme of the battle.

Do a race, but fit skis on pistons inline with the rear wheels and only power the rear wheels. Also have each other program a logic block to fire off both pistons at a random interval. It basically will be like a race where you will repeatedly lose control so it'll either become a disaster or someone's going to drift like they're in Initial-D. You could also engineer the same concept to have a drift race. You control when the skis come down so then you get...... "DEJA VU! I HAVE BEEN TO THIS PLACE BEFORE!!"

Battling Realistic Rockets. Only thrusters for roll, pitch, and yaw, no gyros, or control surfaces. Take off vertically. And a single Weapon, because they'll be fragile.

Scrapman: you should set some rules then have fans submit their designs within the block, power core, and vehicle type limitation, then every round rather than making their own vehicles everyone grabs one of their fan submissions and use that. Final round everyone grabs their favourite vehicle from the previous rounds and use that for an all stars battle.

this became an F-ZERO death race real quick. that would be really cool with 4 players on the centrifuge. if you are not familiar with F-ZERO death race, its no weapons last man standing on a looped map. the only attack you can use is ramming or spinning, so no weapons. its more a battle royale than a race, there are no laps. F-ZERO uses hover cars with forward thrust but the sleds in trailmakers definitely act more like the F-ZERO cars than the hover pads

For vehicles that steer as violently as this one you should consider using zero strength servos to make the guns free floating. Maybe it improves the aim. Putting it on top should also help the auto aim.

Suggestion: Fast tanks, or off-road cars with guns on continuously rotating turrets! Driver controls when to fire, but not the angle/direction of the gun.
