Hello scrappers and planet lovers. This video will show you all the free copper, aluminum, silver and other metals that are found in a CRT television. Once done taking the goodies, you can still take the rest of the tv to the scrapyard and get electronic price for the remainder parts.

Looks like a tv I sold recently for $100 locally and Ive seen around $300 ebay. If it don't work, scrap it. But some of these are sought after by gamers. Always look up the model before scrapping.

Cutting the red cord does not discharge the capacitor. Using an alligator clip discharge the capacitor by attaching one end to ground and the other end to an unusually long screwdriver then work the screwdriver under the rubber cap on the picture tube. It may pop but not always. A CRT is a very large capacitor and it does not need to be plugged to store up a charge! You have just been lucky so far. If you should touch the cut end of the wire coming from the picture tube and you are grounded you will die!

I got 1000 of the sony trinitrons from a NCAA football stadium when they converted to lcd for free. The college loaded them in 26ft U-hauls for me. After breaking them down to the yoke/degaussing copper, and electronic boards I got around $10,500 at the scrap yard. After paying U-Haul fees, construction dumpster rental for the waste, and hourly helpers for breakdown I made about $6,000 on them. Trinitrons are the best crt to scrap, a lot of other brands use aluminum degaussing wire and aren't worth much.

Hi there. The "bell" you are referring to is actually called a "yoke" and the black hose around the tube is called a "degausser coil" Color TVs will have that but black and white TVs will not since there's no magnetic concern on monochrome CRTs.

Sometimes it does happen. I have broken it off before with some glass on it still. Then I will carefully break the small pieces of glass off. Nice thing is you don’t have to get 100% glass off since it is #2 copper anyway. Make sure you were eye protection when break the tube since it is glass and possibly glass bits can fly off

They're not going to say well you had aluminum wire in copper so instead of getting 38 your getting 20 just not going to happen and if they do they re dicks trying to rip you off and have ripped you off that simple

What would you suggest? Greetings from McAllen Texas 😎
@TinManScrapper

it depends on your area I guess. I bring the rest to the scrapyard, but other viewers said that they have to pay to get rid of the items. I would suggest if your scrapyard does not take the rest, see if there is a free electronic drop off depot in your area where you can bring the rest of the tv to.

It might not sound like a lot, but prices have gone up to over $5.60lb and there is a few pounds of copper in a CRT tv. Also, the rest of the tv is worth scrap money. Remember too, it all adds up. Scrapping is not a get-rich-quick scheme. I do it as a side job and environmental impact.

I have a question for you, I was always told to be extra careful when I was scrapping CRT TV's because I had several people tell me that the picture tube could explode in my face due to the pressure inside the picture tube. Is this true or did the people telling me that not know what they were talking about?
@TinManScrapper
@TinManScrapper Ай бұрын
I think if you drop it the glass could shatter and break but I don’t know if the tv will explode. There is pressurized air in the tube and I always cut the red cable connected to the tube to prevent a potential stored charge in the cable. Some people will break the glass end connected to the yoke to release the air, but I don’t think it is necessary.
