Photocopiers are probably the worst thing by weight to scrap, they're heavy, dirty and the further you scrap them the more plastic and rubbish you end up with.
I'm glad I got rid of this and the only way i'd take them is if I got paid to take them away.
they have very little in the way of gold recovery items and are mostly scrap steel and plastic.

As a retired copier engineer, who used to work on these machines (mainly Ricoh) in the UK, I enjoyed watching you take this model apart. A Copier must be the only piece of equipment that has so many different technologies used in it. The bottle in the back contains silicon oil, to lubricate the fuser rollers by the way. By putting a film of the oil on the hot roller whilst its melting the toner on to the paper, it prevents toner from sticking to the hot roller. The oil is quite expensive, but great for using in your workshop at home, I still have a bottle in mine! The harddrive, is of very small capacity, as it is only used for temporary storage whilst scanning documents ready for printing. I seem to remember that model was only about 20Gb, not much use for other purposes? As you rightly say, these machines were expensive to buy, but have very little value at the end of their life. We used to recondition some lightly used models, but when they were high mileage, everything was too worn to make it worth while. Thanks for the video, enjoyed that.

That one looks tough. I wouldn't want it. I had a new customer ask me if I wanted one last week, I told them I'd get back to them. I remembered that I watched this video late last year. So I rewatched. I'm glad I did now i know what to tell them. Thanks Ben!!!

This is older video but I lucked into a Toshiba copier/printer/power stapler. I am here to say that particular machines was absolutely loaded with electronics. To this day it has been the best item I have ever got my hands on. That thing was incredibly heavy as well must have weighed at least 350 kilo. Took two people just too roll it around on a hand truck.

Yes the older the better. Just found a copier from early 1990’s. Very heavy, all steel body with very few plastic and only one side have everything to work on to pull motor, wiring and board out then throw the copier in back truck. I was shun once by a copier that have a lead-acid battery in it used for power outrage and surge protective. Modern printer take long time to break it apart unless you have cordless power screw driver.

Does anyone pay for the ABS plastic where you are? I see it offered on recycle.net but don't know if anyone would buy it.

The older the better is the best. Lots of steel and wire, a couple high grade boards and the rest mid grade and lots of low grade. Could probably sell the stepper motors in it to some hobbyist on eBay. Lots of plastic and steel mostly steel though
