Really interesting video, to see the difference between fridges and freezers where you live and here in the UK. We get far less off those items here. Just the compressor, few bits of copper you showed and the mains cable. Enjoyed. Cheers Okie.

Did you leave out the part where you released the refrigerant into the air, or was it already "properly" reclaimed lol? In my neck of the woods, people put whole units on the shred pile and the crane does all the releasing when it smushes them up anyway, so I don't feel too bad making them go "pssshhhhhhhh" myself. At least you don't see much R22/21 anymore, which is the nasty stuff.

in the fridge you have the ice maker, and the fan underneath, if you have the Freon removed you have the compressor and in behind the freezer is an aluminum coil, on the water heater you have the brass pressure release valve, and if it is and electric one you can pull the wire going to the heating elements

I get rusted or out of date propane tanks for free from Ace Hardware, where they refill them, but they give the unfillable away. I use the tanks for secondary air tanks, portable air tanks, and to make small smelting furnaces. Only tools required to remove valve is ratchet strap and a 5 to 6ft 2x6 to keep tank from moving, strap side of tank to end of board lay board on the ground with tank strapped and using a pipe wrench unscrew if keeping handle need a pair of channel type pliers too. To make it safe fill tank completely with teaspoon dawn and water wait 10 minutes dump and fill 2 more times only with water wait 10 minutes each time before dumping water out and 24 hours upside down to dry. Then safe for using grinder or many times I use plasma cutter on it.
@Okiescrapper
@Okiescrapper Жыл бұрын
propane is heaver then air so removing the valve and placing it upside down should do it, but I like to fill with water to be safe. I have strapped them to a pallet. and seen people strap them to a tree. they make a tool to remove the value. and I have seen people make the tool out of a piece of pipe

If you don't have a way to réclame the refrigerant it is best to just remove the icemaker, and any aluminum on shelving and door trim and take it in that way. call around to some of the yards, as some won't take them if not drained. it may not be long and scrappers will have to charge to haul them off. so the scrapper will have the funds to have them drained. that may be a good business to start up.
