in this video , I'll be taking apart a ptac unit. I realize I didn't need to disassemble the unit entirely. I did it for content purposes.

New sub. The coiled heating wire at a minimum you should get stainless steel from your yard. It is actually a high nickel content stainless called Inconel. Not many yards buy it as Inconel, but if you can find one that does, According to Google, scrap inconel is around $2.00/lb! Nice tear down!

The black boxes on the board are relay switches which have copper that is is to harvest.

Being an environmentalist scrapper myself, I hope you paid attention to bleeding the coolants from ac units, fridges and freezes. Freon is very harmful to the environment, please read up on the subject. In most countries you need a license to handle it….

You are right, the guy I got it from had already drained the unit. I do however keep compressor oil in a container and recycle it.
