Going out to the range and the course right now. Will be having these videos on the smart phone to take with me. Your videos have got me back to the course after I left the game after marriage and children many years ago. My wife has encouraged me to get out and ACTIVE and hit some balls again. Hope to break 90 by end of the summer. These videos are curing faults I carried for years. Many Thanks

This is probably the very best internet video I ever viewed. I will be 74 in a couple weeks after 2 weeks of practice have been hitting my drives over 200 yards and straight every time. I shot mid 80's and played from the white tees, not seniors. Thanks Adam you are the best.

Adam, Thanks for all of the great golf instruction content. This video cured the slice on my drives. Great visual descriptions with skipping rocks and the inside whip needed. I've been seeing some arising outside in swings with driver thus resulting in some side spin, slicing and lose of distance. I'll be remembering skipping rocks as my last swing thought before back swing with driver. As usual excellent content, breaking it down in layman's terms.

Great tutorial, I really like the impact bag drills, it really teaches you how to hit from the inside. Most of my playing partners never go back to first principles in their practice and just ingrain bad habits. Periodically you have to go back to basics and re-learn the fundamentals as bad habits creep in to everyone’s swing and you just ingrain them and make it worse. Then they blame the clubs and try to buy themselves better with a new driver !

Adam, I am the guy in our group that hits the ball the furthest but consistent direction is lacking. I have noticed two things...1) my major miss is a HUGE hook. 2) The hook is created from two things. a) a quick transition at the top which brings the club from over the top, and b) a flip of the wrists prior to impact. Do you have a drill to get rid of the "flip"? I don't mind pulling a few left, but to flip-hook it on top of that is KILLING me! Thanks, and always love the videos.
@Scratchgolfacademy
@Scratchgolfacademy 4 жыл бұрын

Old fart here. A number of years ago, I got greedy and completely abandoned my baby draw to learn to a baby fade. The goal was to have BOTH. I spent years trying to learn the fade - fully dedicated to it. The result: I completely lost my draw; I could never implement any degree of power/length into my "fade". Just recently gone back to Adam's lessons tips. Already hitting it straighter (with occasional draw) and with considerable more length and power. Battling a pull on occasion; BUT IT BEATS A WEAK PUSH. Just the hand and knuckle placements was a huge kick-start! Many thanks, Adam.

For a moment there, I thought you were gong to mention my name when you were describing that outside-in move. When I do it (too often!) I call it 'the lunge'. That pull-hook is my signature shot because I struggle mightily to hit inside-out and up with my driver. I can't wait to get out to the range and "whip that thing". Thank you for another great lesson and the encouragement.

At the top of your back-swing, do two things before you start your body rotation: 1) bump your hips toward your target, and 2) rotate & drop your power triangle into the slot. You're bumping your hips so that you get your weight on your target side foot. With #2, you're rotating your arms, forearms, and hands so that your right elbow points down and your right palm points up. From there, you drop the whole Ben Hogan Triangle about a foot, and then, move your right elbow into (towards) your liver. Your goal is to get the butt end of the club (the handle) so that it points at the target when your left hand is opposite your right thigh. You do that & you won't go outside in any more.

Bill, Thanks. Regards the driver, at impact you’d like the swing path to be on target, or a couple of degrees in to our. Half way down, though, the club would be well from the inside All the best, Adam

Great video! I am dominantly right handed but golf left handed. Do you have this and or other videos for lefty golfers? Thanks again!

Thanks Andrew. I try to use lingo that can apply to lefties and right handers. That said, all info would apply to either player, it's just mirrored for the lefty. Hope this helps. Best, Adam

There’s 2 types of golf pros teaching on KZfaq. The first kind talk about many small details and different topics, very technical, a lot of small instructions. Very hard to connect all the instructions, you find yourself always correcting small mistakes separately, but never “getting it”. The 2nd type, people who have already “digested” all that complexity to offer fewer & easy to understand instructions that bring better golf to whoever want to listen. These are the only good ones to me now, and Mr. Bazalgette is one of the best, maybe the best.

Adam, you are a great teacher and all your instructions are spot on, but why do you recommend twisting the driver shaft closed at impact?
@Scratchgolfacademy
@Scratchgolfacademy 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Richard. Most golfers (not all) habitually leave the face open with a through impact with a driver. These golfers have to work on squaring the face with the forearms and hands, rather than the more typical flailing through with the shoulders & swinging left. Like anything, it's possible to do too much of it, so ultimately you are looking for neutral (fairly straight shot). All the best, Adam

l have watched this video a couple of times. I believe you combine two distinct actions that others have stated but always as separate items that have to work together and possibly worth of a separate video. What i am referring to is the right hand unloading (ie rock skipping) at the same time left hand rotating. I don't want to think about it as that is not I am having an issue with but have had the issue before where one hand overpowering the other causes issues.

Watching this man swing a golf club is like watching art in motion. On the one hand I admire him greatly, on the other hand it makes me want to scream that I (a reasonably athletic man) can't come close to approaching that swing!

I'm 63 and can swing my driver around 97 so I am competitively long for my age but play mostly with guys 20-30 years younger than me and many of them played college golf so they hit it like 60 yards past me. The last couple of years I had started doing exactly what Adam talks about - try to hit at the ball with my right side which has been disastrous - both last year and then recently this year my swing has fallen apart and my hdcap has gone from like 3.9 to 6.5. The sidearm motion or the skipping a rock analogy is great. One thing it forces me to do is keep my right leg out of my swing. When I get the over the top disaster move going, if you can visualize this, on my downswing, my right leg literally goes about 6 inches perpendicular to the target line. Go outside and take a ball and try to throw it sidearm across your body while jutting your right knee 90 degrees from the target. You absolutely cannot do it. This is what happens with my swing when I get off. I get to where I can't hit a driver 200 yards and all my irons become these horrible weak cuts or terrible fat pulls. That sidearm skipping motion forces my lower body to get in the right position. I have practicing this move religiously and thank God I am, after two weeks of horrendous golf, finally starting to come back around. If I don't work on this all the time, I just can't hit it decently anymore. In my case I have to almost take my lower body completely out of the shot, or when I hit it good that's the sensation. Thanks Adam for another great video.

Anthony Lennen: From 3.9 to 6.5. Those numbers tell me you play very regularly, you are naturally physically able and flexible and have a great golfing mind. Just be thankful that you’ve got tot that level of excellence and near professionalism. I could blather... but suffice to say even a lesson with a Ryder Cup player! Gave me hope for about a week then it faded. Believe me, you are doing well. Keep it up!

Played golf last week & hit the first two duck hooks of my life, My partner exclaimed "I've never seen you do that ever!" I told him I'm trying to change my swing to stop hitting fades & slices & that it is a work in progress.

Hitting from the inside is about the only natural and instinctive aspect of my golf! I have cured the duck hook but I still find myself aiming way right as I have an exaggerated draw!
