That WONDERFUL scream was used by me when I did the soundtrack for a production of Stoker's DRACULA. When the stake went into Dracula's Heart, that is what I used. Of course, I did a LOT of recording studio Magic on it and it worked. The entire audience reacted by screaming also and several patrons ran out of the theater. I felt like I had done my job well.

I have had this in one format or the other since it took place about 30 years ago. Seems someone paid a professional screamer to throw off tenor Henry Price as Alfredo. Price did not miss a beat, but that incredible scream from the audience in at first frightening, and then quite hysterical. Those in the audience didn't know what to do, and some put on their coats and started to fell the NY State Theater. At the time nobody knew what it was, and it was very frightening.

How Henry Price continued after that awful scream, I will never know. He was/is a beautiful, beautiful tenor, and also the sexiest Paris in Belle Helene ever seen.

The catalogue says 2/26/78. Germont was Dominic Cossa; cond. Pallo. I talked w/ the guy who had the original recording. He said they never found out the woman's name. The note reads: "She was obviously afflicted in some way."
