Love this one! I was at the Chicago show you mentioned in this video. We showed up to the venue and there was flyers on the door notiflying us that Liam was "sick" and Noel would do singing duties that night. They may have also offered refunds to any upset fans. Anyway, I loved the Screaming Trees, so we still attended and honestly Noel did an amazing job that night, and yes, the Screaming Trees were amazing live!!!

I saw this show in Detroit, it was really weird. My memory could be off but I swear the Screaming Trees played their entire set with the house lights on. As much as I loved Oasis, their set wasn't memorable in any way, it was obvious both bands were phoning it in. I saw Oasis years later and they were excellent.

@@jb-yi4di nothing against Liam, but in a strictly physical sense, Mark would have a huge advantage over Liam, and would most likely drive him into the ground like a railroad spike. He is a very imposing figure, well over 6 foot, and he’s from rural Washington State originally (Ellensburg. In the east Cascades). He also grew up doing farm work. Liam is from urban Manchester. Not saying one is better than the other, and I certainly don’t think “might makes right”, but junkie or not, Mark would tear Liam apart.

Liam Gallagher tries to play it off by saying all he did was have a little light hearted, good natured fun in the spirit of camaraderie and good will when he called them the Howling Branches and for some reason the singer got all uppity. I wasn't there, I didn't see it, but I'm 100% certain when he called them the Howling Branches it was in the douchiest, most arrogant way possible. Couple that with it coming out of one of the most punchable douchey faces in rock, and Lanegan should receive some sort of medal for having the strength and restraint to not bust his jaw for him.

Liam Gallagher is a mouthy tool. He's also (if he's in the mood) an incredible frontman. Mark Lanegan is a big imposing tool. He's also (if he's in the mood) an incredible frontman. Neil Young (yes I know he's not in this video but bear with me) is a self righteous tool and (if he's in the mood) an incredible frontman. All three have written and performed amazing songs (although Young easily takes the biscuit). The three best gigs I've ever seen were Screaming Trees, Oasis and Neil Young with Crazy Horse. If these people were not arrogant bastards who know just how good they can be, we'd never have heard of them and music would be less rich. Must admit I'd happily spark Liam out though (Lanegan is huge and Neil is old)!

A couple of wacky tour line ups that need a mention are 1 cat stevens, walker brothers and the jimi hendrix experience and 2 the 1967 tour of hermans hermiits and the who mismatched artists was commonplace in the 1960s, but through rock history there are plenty of mismatched tours:-)) when jimi hendrix played his first ever European gig it was with French pop star. Johnny halliday!

Don’t forget Jimi Hendrix touring with The Monkees in 1967! And Johnny Hallyday was awesome! Because of him, we eventually got Foreigner (Mick Jones was Hallyday’s guitarist back then.)

I've been reading Sing Backwards and Weep....and I don't think Liam had any clue how lucky he is Mark didn't get a chance to lay hands on him. Mark would attack people in the audience, people in line behind him at the post office, and even his own bandmates at the slightest provocation. Noel missed out on an attitude adjustment.

I saw them in Philadelphia on that tour. Oasis was great. I didn't know the Trees then, but I remember finding it weird the singer didn't interact with the audience AT ALL. All the "how you doing, folks?" stuff came from the bass player.

Oasis were lucky being overrated at The right moment. Where are they now? At least, Screaming trees are still respected as UNDERGROUND band (DUST is awesome) and MARK LANEGAN has strong reputation as artist. GALLAGHERS live on past glory. I liked OASIS 1st,parts of 2nd,then they became too huge and turned to british Guns'n'whatever

Sheeesh, last week was better than this week. Why does everyone yearn to live in the past instead of facing todays realities? Next thing you know, today will be gone and you will say "i wish it was yesterday". Go out and walk in the park, make memories, dont be pissy about the future and stop regretting sht that cant be changed. Maybe life will be ok. IMFAO though.

If you can identify the element in grunge bands that you can use to categorize them in that genre, I don't see it in the screaming trees. screaming trees are psychedelic rock wall the way. And if they are grunge they were the best at the lot.

The only thing grunge bands really had in common was that they came from the same time and place. Screaming Trees is one of them because it was another late 80s/early 90s rock band from the Pacific Northwest.

@@pwnshhhop51 Yeah that's true. Grunge is also a marketing technique, to isolate the up-and-coming bands from the bands that were burning out, for the music consumer. PS Invader Zim fan....?

I think "grunge" was just an invented lable for the scene where they all came from. I think all those bands are similar in many ways with the exception of Pearl Jam. AiC, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Nirvana and Muudhoney all have psychedelic notes and hard rock influence everywhere. Pearl Jam just feels like an early arena rock band for me. They're different than all the other groups. Much more commercial. Still love em tho

Yeah, I've read quite a few comments out of each of them questioning, and/or insulting, the intelligence, and musical tastes, of their American audiences. I would agree, as they were willing to buy Oasis albums, and willing to pay for tickets to a show that may not include all band members, nor a full effort out of those who did show up to play.
