Stillwater is defined as a non moving body of water such as a pond or lake. Chironomids are a species of aquatic insect that are highly present in most stillwater areas. They can make up a large percentage of a trouts diet in these areas. This fly is designed to imitate that natural insect. It is designed and fished in such a way as to catch any trout feeding on them. As fly fishing does not include the use of bait such as what is used in conventional fishing situations, we use flies in their place to imitate the natural forage found in these waters.
