The inspiration behind this video:
In a recent interview with Empire, director Nia DaCosta expressed how The Marvels will introduce a sisterly bond between the titular heroes, stating "I thought it would be cool to map an estranged family history onto them," which certainly tracks given the movie's title. While Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Photon are not blood-related, the space-swapping conundrum the three find themselves in has already established a bond between them whether they like it or not. The recent trailer, too, makes sure to establish Captain Marvel's loneliness before she is thrust into the lives of these two strangers with similar powers to hers.
The sibling-focussed MCU death trend, then, would typically suggest that one or two of these newfound "sisters" are now in mortal danger. In The Marvels, however, this seems far from evident, with there being no suggestion that any of the movie's co-stars are marked for death - at least not in the near future. Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan each still have pretty significant roles to play in the MCU, with the latter two having barely been introduced. For Marvel to kill off any one of these now would seem both premature and unnecessary, as the movie itself works to set up a dynamic that can majorly benefit the MCU and prevent old complaints going forward.

Marvel should just stop. They did something awesome and it is not going to be captured again by replacing and I ntroducing new characters etc…I’m just over it and this is coming from a diehard marvel fan. Loved it from the story line to the teasers to how everything felt cohesive and told a bigger story to the cameos. But it is just done

I still think it doesn't make much sense that Monica is the only one of 'The Marvels' who doesn't have the word "Marvel" in her superhero name. I know she adopted the name "Captain Marvel" too, but then she stopped using it. So why didn't they name her "Marvel" too? Since they invented the character "Blue Marvel" they could have given that identity (including powers) to Monica. Or at least give her a name that had "Marvel" as the second word.

While Marvel movies have gone downhill (there's a long version and a short version of why, the short version is greedy capitalism over substance in storytelling), most of the heat around this particular movie is just toxic dude bros who hate both Captain Marvel as a character and Brie Larson.

@@reverendblind Really? I don't buy it. If they hate the property & actress so much, then why use her? Why make a follow-up at all? That doesn't sound very accurate to me. What I think is that they've forgotten what made the earlier films great. Rushing through important plot points & not allowing powerful moments to be earned. Iron Man proved the value in the story being down to earth & organic, feeling like it is grounded in reality. Making the Iron Man suit feel earned. We saw Tony toiling away, perfecting the armor, building it slowly, piece by piece, and saw it be improved over many movies. THAT is what made Iron Man work so well, not to mention RDJ's infectious & brilliant acting. It's also been the casting choices. They have been plain awful as of late. Disney's casting choices in general have been bad. All of the actors feel more like the nerdy religion nuts that we went to school with. Maybe that's not a fair thing to say, but I just don't buy the casting. They are focusing on all the wrong things when casting these actors. I blame those running the show. Disney has FAR too many Woke Feminists running things, & it shows in the writing. I mean good lord... Go watch the Black Widow movie. The writing & plot is downright cringe at times. Ever since Star Wars was rebooted & Marvel was bought out by Disney, things haven't felt quite the same. They need to rethink & retool how they do things.

Hot garbage. This is the 5th or 6th MCU project I’ve passed on. Even the trailer sucks & that’s rare. These day’s trailers are better than the movie. They’re playing a song says “it takes 2 to make a thing go right” in a movie about 3 ppl. Villain looks boring. Sam looks tired & the action looks same old. Marvel needs a great big time out.
