Yeah, the water was TOTALLY the reason why Sonic lost. DEFINITELY not the fact that Sonic was literally a spinning fireball hurled by Mario onto the surface that caused a nuclear explosion. Damn u water.

I think the reason Sonic died in the animation is because he was on fire and Mario threw him at what was probably full force. With his level of strength, I'm surprised a mushroom cloud was the full extent of the damage caused there. As for who Sigma is, he's the main antagonist from Mega Man X, who was referenced in the analysis of Zero in his Death Battle versus Metal Sonic. But as a refresher, he was originally the leader of the noble Maverick Hunters, but after encountering Zero, he got infected with a virus from Zero's cryo-pod, and the two ended up swapping morality alignments.

Bc technically sonic was going really fast and mario just shot fireballs that way they got inside him and he threw him , he was so fast he was like a meteor thanks to mario strength and sonic speed.

Without power-ups, Mario would still win because Sonic isn't strong enough to do any real damage to Mario. Sonic also isn't durable enough to withstand Mario's hits and Mario's reaction speed is fast enough to react to Sonic. They also said Mario doesn't need fire flower to use fire powers, so he has that.

I think I know why Hyper Flash wouldn't have instantly finished off Mario and his doubles. The insta-kill effect only works against common enemies, and something like Mario would be more of a "boss enemy".

Not to mention if you consider Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars to be canon, Mario has many items capable of protecting him from the Hyper Flash, like the Jinx belt, Safety Ring, and Quartz Charm, which all nullify instant-kill moves. Sonic didn’t die from the water. If you remember when they were talking about Mario, they said Mario can throw a baseball or anything really over 999 MPH. And when sonic tried to spindash Mario, Mario is strong enough to block it with his hands and spin it and throw it over 999 MPH into the ocean.

Yeah last time this happened they made Mario have a MASSIVE downside to power ups of not being able to use them in quick succession but that was never the case. You could get your power up right back AND still have the invincibility frame. I always thought that was weird.

Even without powerups and this battle takes place in the desert, Mario's natural abilities still overpowers Sonic's in every way. So it wouldn't make any difference.

Lol, I call Mario bias Mr. Mario as the Profile Pic. A scene in this was putting Mario's reaction time to Sonic's movement speed which is nowhere close, giving Sonic a two wisps and chaos emeralds while they gave Mario the wing hat, his invincibility powerups, cat bell and, like, 50 duplication cherries. They gave Mario more powerups than Sonic that were found, not held beforehand. Also, Mario punting a castle is confirmed non Canon and was ment to be a stupid joke and not taken seriously so they completely overplayed Mario's strength.

No. There were so many flaws in the analysis and this is not the first time they have overplayed or underplayed a character, like Ryu vs Jin, Thor vs Wonder Woman, Goku vs Superman (although I still firmly agree Superman should win, they kinda overplayed Goku) and others. I'm not bitching, just voicing my opinion, is that against the law?

The strange version of Knuckles is from the Sonic Boom series, which essentially turns the Sonic Dream Team into more obvious teens. It’s extra weird, especially with the series’ unique character Sticks the Badger. You have to see her to believe her.

... I am a huge Mario fan and an even bigger Sonic fan, but water doesn't take feet off. The explosion on impact from the atmosphere killed Sonic in this particular battle; not the water. If anything, the water broke Sonic's fall and he still died, maybe even before impact. I was leaning more towards Sonic, but Mario takes the "cake" when you take cartoon/gaming physics litterally. Winner: MARIO!!

Fun fact, they did a Death Battle with these two long ago.... Sonic won that one cause all the powerups at the time cancelled each other out, allowing his speed to turn himself into a bullet to plow through Mario like a cannonball

Sigma's the main villain of Megaman X. He's X and Zero's big foe. He's a maverick who can infect other entities with a special virus that turns them Maverick (think crazy, destructive, and a huge threat to mankind and other reploids like them).

@Dwayne N Jazz, I'm glad you guys were care-free about who would win, but if you ask me, multiple people are saying they're glad sonic lost, and multiple people are saying Sonic should have won, including me (I think he should have won, and they weren't being completely fair with the battle). So they just caused a huge debate between these two.

Sigma is the main villain of the Megaman X series. He was originally a Maverick Hunter until a confrontation with Zero, who was sealed up inside a capsule that contained the original Maverick Virus (which is implied to be the Evil Energy from Megaman 8 and was possibly the source of Roboenza from Megaman 10). Near the end of the fight, both Zero and Sigma struck each other, resulting in Zero being defeated and seemingly freed of his corruption while Sigma was infected by the Maverick Virus, eventually rebelling against humanity and becoming the main villain for the series.
