Supposedly it’s meant to represent a flash of blinding light. It’s surprisingly effective in context.

Reminds me of the left hand over right arpeggios implied in the end of Rachmaninoff's op 23 no 10 prelude in Gb Major. Some pianists don't cross hands on all of them, but to me it seems like the crossover technique was the intention. Unlike the Rachmaninoff, you could hypothetically take a lot of time on this one though because it doesn't have a continuous eighth note melody under it. Interesting to see Rachmaninoff and Scriabin both using this fast arpeggio hand crossing technique since it's not really that common.

Reminds me of those chords in Alkan's right hand etude and grand sonata. I think the range for Alkan's chords were wider but Scriabin's chord had more notes
