People complaining on both byram cross checking and then people getting mad at greenway for "challenging" a rookie? First, byram is fighting for space in front of his goalie, and using crosschecks in front of the net has always been one of the ways to move the man in front of the net. Greenway is trying to take the space for traffic in front of the net. That area is a battle all the time. And for greenway challenging byram and getting mad because hes a rookie? He didn't fight byram. You think greenway is going to let someone crosscheck him after the whistle? He is going to let the rookie understand that just because you are a rookie, you cant do anything you want. There was no fight, nothing remotely close to a fight. Its 2 players fighting for space and things got heated.

I really don't understand why those cross checks aren't called. Last I checked, the rulebook didn't say cross checks were ok if you were close to the net. So stupid. I understand why Greenway gets the double minor here, but it should've been four on four here.

@@blakey88, nope, I've never played. Weak ankles. But, I agree that most of what happens down low aren't penalties, and the first couple of whacks Byram gives him are just the price you pay for playing down low. But the one to the rib cage under the arm is a clear cross check, that's the one I have an issue with. It's borderline dirty. Cross checks like that happen too often down near the paint and that's the kind of stuff that doesn't get called. Props to Byram, though, for getting under Greenway's skin there and drawing the extra two. Not sure I'd want to go toe to toe with Greenway, though.

@@Core.308, apparently you and I differ on what the game of hockey is, because I believe this game was an NHL game, and last I checked, there was still a rulebook in place, which happens to have this in it: 59.1 Cross-checking - The action of using the shaft of the stick between the two hands to forcefully check an opponent.

Well he has one of the only fights on the Avs and he’s only played 15 games. And on the play, he didnt just take it, he kinda reverse hit him. Obviously he didn’t knock him down but he tried to push back, when most people would hug the boards and obsorb the hit, he lowers his shoulder and hit back

Of course greenway would get an extra. But the refs don’t wanna call the cross checks Byram had that caused this. Should be evened up no one gets an extra. Then the avs score on the powerplay. Fucking joke
