I'm not a big fan of the Oathmark Dwarf Light Infantry kit, but I know how to make it better.

Great video I have been doing some similar modifications on my light infantry dwarves to make them into thorin oakenshields company I made the hoods bigger on Most modded the weapons and used a frostgrave soldier back pack to make a fat belly for bombur

I had 10 of these assembled and primed but just didn't want to touch them because of how awkward they all looked. I followed your steps here and they are now all painted and ready for action and I'm very happy with how they turned out. Thank

Years ago West End Games had Grenadier make figures for their Starwars game. The box of stormtroopers were ALL left handed!

No wonder they can't hit the broad side of a barn! Though to be fair, I searched for images of those figures and found out it's screen accurate. Apparently many do hold them left handed!

Hi great video as always thanks to you Ive build a dwarf army didn't use there light infantry used em4 very cheap did a lot of conversions on them had some dwarf 2 handed weapons left over so put them on the Elvis

Oh nice! I use a lot of the em4 bases because, as you say, they are dirt cheap, and the shipping to NZ is very reasonable! Good stuff!

A twohanded weapon is a lot easier to use ambidextrously than a onehanded one. Swinging a polearm “left handed” is a big advantage against a typical right handed shield equiped warrior. The opponent will have to bring his shield awkwardly across his body to protect his right side, and his weapon arm, severely limiting his own offensive capability.

Oh there are definitely applications where you could switch hands. But that doesn't make it the normal or necessarily optimal way of using the weapon. These guys in particular are militia wielding tools rather than specialised weapons, so I expect them to use them much the same way they do on the job.

It is definitely an odd design choice to have *all* of them using their weapons/tools “left handed”. I look forward to see what you do with them. Your work on these border guards really improved them.

Cheers Lasse. Yeah, there were a few choices made in this kit that I would have done differently, but at least they are pretty straight forward to convert.

Cheers Ethan. The "blade and spoon" tool came from this set: www.alumilite.com/accessories/4-piece-carver-set/ I'm not sure where the needle tool came from. I've had them for 15 years or so! You can get generic clay carving tools from most art stores.

What brand of fluch cutters are you using? Those things seem to be super sharp

I wish I knew. They came in a cheap tool kit I got about 15 years ago. They are specifically "flush cutters" which are much sharper than standard hobby clippers, if that helps. Electronics stores often carry them.

This kit is so weird, it seems like no one cared about them, as this is the first video or even article I have ever seen about them, and it is not like they just came out or anything.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not sure if it's because nobody uses Militia or Border Guard, or people just don't like the kit. It's definitely my least favourite of the Oathmark range.
