Hey friends! I started using Blender on 2.79 but started sculpting with 2.8 so let me help you out a little. Most of the brush settings that appear in this tutorial are now on the Sidebar menu which is half visible when you open Blender 2.8+, press N to show/hide and it will appear on the right side of the 3D Viewport. 5:12 ctrl+n , choose sculpting in new menu for perfect ready for sculpting sphere (although these instructions are still valid if you want to start with a different shape other than a sphere) 5:38 Shading is no longer in the Sidebar menu, it's in the right top corner of the 3d Viewport window, right above the Sidebar, it's a menu with 4 sphere icons, (hover over the icons to see the names!), click the "Solid" option and next the down arrow to see lightning options, click on the pic of the white sphere and you will see the option to turn it into red clay material. 6:46 the Brush tools now appear on its own menu on the left side, you can expand the section to see the full names and easily follow the tut , also hover over them to see the new shortcuts! WARNING For some reasons some of shortcuts don't work on windows 10, but easy piecy, right click to assign new shortcut, for example clay strips is set to 2 by default but wouldn't work so i just set 2 on new shortcut and voila... weird, wrote it just in case. 8:03 The brush settings are now on the Sidebar (N menu) under the Tools tab. 9:40 All of the mask options are now on the top left corner of the 3d Viewport, you can check the shortcuts there if they change, so far they are the same from this video. 10:15 the Hide Bounding Box is on the Sculpt menu, top left side of the 3d Viewport, to the left of the Mask menu. The rest of Hiding features mentioned in this part are also here. Alt +h to unhide is specially useful since it's not on the menu but still works on Blender 2.8+. 10:47 Brush options: Sidebar menu, >Tool > Brush Settings 11:30 Falloff options: Sidebar Menu, Tool tab, Falloff section, below the Stroke section. The Flat Curve is really called Constant, you can't blame Yan as you can see that in previous Blender versions the name wasn't visible. 11:53 All of the Dyntopo options are on the Sidebar menu > Tool tab 13:40 Remember if you use Constant detail instead of relative, the lower the number is, the lower quality you get, whereas if you use Relative Detail it's exactly like Yan says, the lower the number, the higher the detail, this is important as you can accidentally switch and get crazy trying to find what happened. 13:50 Symmetry settings are on the Sidebar>Tool tab, you must have that section open if you've made it this far. 24:27 Boolean Tool(Part 9): Notice that Yan goes to Object mode to duplicate, in Blender 2.8+ you can ctrl+tab to invoke pie menu and select object mode, there you can keep shift+d to duplicate. The Properties windows is on the same place as in the video, but the tabs are on the left side, from there look for the Modifiers tab (it has wrench icon), notice Yan calls it Settings. Everything is the same until... 25:05 Wireframe View: If you press the Z button you will invoke a pie menu, choose Wireframe, go back to Sculpt mode with ctrl+tab. Hope it helps!

Why is this so common? University teacher are nothing compared to most tutorials we see. I'm studying graphic design and my teacher almost never answered correctly my questions. Once she was teaching us about after effects and didn't even knew we could use 3D to animate 2D. Since them I still there do que my graduation, but always studying by myself.
@Prinzherbert
@Prinzherbert 4 жыл бұрын
@@parden3743 A lot of them aren't really that good at what they do, but they are there so you can ask them things and they can teach you what they know, the basics, because not everyone is able to study on their own. And they just do an overview of the things, they won't go very deep into a software or technique, they will teach you the basics and then you search up more complex things you'd like to know. But it's really something special when you can make something that impresses the teacher. That proves you're really good at what you're doing, and you like it.

When you started to tell us that you were going to sculpt an ear, I decided that I would take matters into my own hands. Doing that benefited me greatly, because I was able to find out which brushes were most useful for each part of the ear. However, I wouldn’t have been a able to do that without your help. So, thank you. This is the most progress I’ve made in Blender ❤️.

YanSculpts great video! Been using Blender for ~2 yrs and it’s such a great Alternative to Zbrush(sculptris is good as well) as many cannot afford that application. Having the entire Autodesk suite I still find myself coming back to Blender as it’s a tad easier to navigate once learning all the hotkeys. I need to hookup my surface pro to my Ryzen PC and use it as drawing tablet that way I still have a keyboard, mouse, and powerful GPU handy vs using virtual solutions.

I know for me, I dropped out of Art School because I could not afford the $90k USD price tag for a 4 year degree.... but I originally learned using Maya and have been using Blender in Maya mode for about two years. The problem with Blender and Maya is that in sculpting ... a lot of tools in Blender mode are just not available in Maya keyset, so you will struggle as I have struggled. I'm having to dedicate time to relearning my keysets to Blender full time because of it. Annoying but not too much of a pain, I recommend it.

There some limitations of course, for example, the never-ending scroll (continous scroll) effect in Blender doesnt work. I am a graphic design and sometimes doing work in photoshop is weird with the mouse. Sometimes i do miss precision, but they got a special precision tool for that ofcourse. This will zoom the work area on screen and than whole tablet becomes that small part of the screen. You need to get used to the clicking height, this is major pain some times.

Greg Sallans sculpt is better for organic shapes like characters and such, but hard surface is easier and cleaner, let's say you need to make a living room, with sculpt it's kinda hard and takes longer in my opinion

Hey YanSculpts! I'm big fan of your channel and you inspire me to learn blender's sculpting. But I'm have trouble - blender don't have many custom brushes and I don't know how to sculpt some elements (for example fur). Can you give me some advice to did this? P.S. Sorry for my bad English. It's realy sucks.

There is a particle system in blender and there is a hair configuration in there which could be used to make fur, but it is very confusing for beginners but there are many videos on KZfaq to help you learn it, I believe this video may be exactly what you are looking for kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e7yaZMl2udrZfmw.html (p.S your English is awesome, better than a lot of native English speakers)

Blender can load custom brushes, but there are some limits. I use black and white images as texture masks.

I see, you can either create custom brushes or use an alpha image for that. Zbrush central has a lot of nice alphas that you can try out. Hope that helps :)

Hey man you probably won’t even look at these anymore cause they’re about a year old but for some reason on my blender the tool only drags out individual squares of the object, unlike where yours adds increasing smaller squares for fine detail in the ears etc. I’ve done exactly as you’ve said and can’t seem to get it to work EDIT: Nevermind it’s Ctrl-D to toggle dyntopo

It would help a lot as you will have better control of your movements and massively over how much pressure you are applying, reducing errors, and saving time from having to keep going back over a section several times to get what you want (partly because you can change the pressure on the fly).

Peter The Bloxer definitly tablets from wacom. Get the cheapest basic ones for 40 - 50 euros/dollars. I bought a bamboo in 2012 and i still use it for my artwork and Professional work. Still perfect! Wacom now released a different version wicg still is super great!

If everyone change to 'left mouse' for select, that would be great. Blender will never catch on as much as it should till they make that the default. Right click the select is about as dumb as right click to draw or paint would be.

It's got it's advantages. Having the select button be the same thing as the confirm button can cause a lot of mistakes. It would be nice if you could just switch them entirely. It really is a superficial difference, though, and it trains you to be thoughtful about how you click. I will accept the "It sucks for Mac users" argument, but then again, LIFE sucks for Mac users!

Im hiting the like button just because of the excitement coming from him kkk full of powerful energy. it will be a unbelievable tutorial, i have no doubt about it. in a few days/hours, i just decided to transfer my amateur ''average'' drawing skills that i just ''betrayed'' lefting it behind, thinking ''ah man, i draw no so complex, amazing things. its useless. What can i do using this?'' to the 3d world. Im dreaming about this. finally i found something where i can use ''that useless amateur skills''. At the same time im afraid to spend time in a probably impossible goal. Im beginning from zero in 3d world. I just have a 3d square, that blender creates automatically to me (lol)
