This was so helpful! I’ve been looking for a good way to make a possible jaw for forever! Thank you so much! Also that raptor is just gorgeous!

Art of Vaelys It’s all about repetition and trial. I’ve been sculpting on and off for 2 years approximately, I did a raptor but never figured out how to articulate it. I’m subscribed! I’m excited for more videos! Be well!!! 🙋🏻‍♂️

I've never saw someone sanding the clay between layers. But I'm trying it.

thanks a lot for this helpful video and congratulations for your art. it has been weeks I'm searching about how to install resin or glass eyes after casting the head of the doll, but learnt nothing! would you please tell me how you do this?

Thank you ! Yeah, I didn't show it in this video but I will be happy to tell you how I did it ! I used a Dremel with a carving bit and carved a hole large and deep enough for the eye. I then used Apoxie sculpt Super white to fix the eye inside and reconstruct the eyelid. Another way is to leave a hole where the eye is on your sculpture before molding and casting it. That way, you will only have to glue the eye in the hole and sculpt the eyelid with epoxy clay. I'm still figuring a way to put the eyes directly in the mold to embed them in the head.

Isn't resin brittle? I've always heard that if you drop something that is made of resin on a hard floor, it'd break.
@artofvaelys798
@artofvaelys798 3 жыл бұрын
Resin can break but it is a lot more resistant than polymer clay. I dropped some resin pieces on the floor and nothing broke.

@@artofvaelys798 Ah, is some resin stronger than others?
@artofvaelys798
@artofvaelys798 3 жыл бұрын
@@JuniperFulgur I think some brands are better than others. I use Smooth Cast 305 by Smooth-On, it is widely used by artists because it is a good resin and easy to use.

What materials do I need to pour into the head mold?
@artofvaelys798
@artofvaelys798 4 жыл бұрын
You need resin. I use Smooth Cast 305 from Smooth-On. It's a liquid plastic with a part A and a part B that hardens in 30 minutes.
