I bought one of these kits for just under $50. I had no idea how much I would like it after it was built. This thing goes ANYWHERE. It's awesome! Highly recommended for any SCX24 owner looking for something different.

I really like this thing a lot. It's a VERY capable rig. I also should start getting in to formal how-to's and build videos. I never plan things and just end up doing them straight through. This would have been cool in more detailed segments. But I figured the time lapse would be good.

Thanks for tuning in! I know I promised a more in depth review of it a couple of weeks ago. I have a pretty full time work schedule which limits my video production times. I'll do my best to finally get one uploaded this weekend. If you can hold out for the next wave of SCX24 shipments to arrive, definitely pick up one or two. I have the Jeep and the C10. I'd like to get my hands on a deadbolt but they're nowhere to be found at the moment. Stay tuned! ✌️

Hey Robert, thanks for watching. I would do that but I just haven't had the time with work and all. It's a really simple kit to assemble once you get the parts all laid out in front of you and organized. The hardest part for me was figuring out where I wanted the crossbars to go. What I might be able to do is upload a remake of this video but just run the assembly part at normal speed. I really started this channel to do just crawling videos and I wasn't going to spend any time talking in front of a camera. And, yet, here I am! I got bored over the winter and decided to start filing mods & hop-ups. The problem is that I work full time and I like to play with rc's far more than I like to educate folks on them, lol! And I'm terrible about explaining step by step! BUT, I will see what I can do.

Would you consider doing a video covering the process of installing that body. Did you have to swap links? What to look out for? Your thoughts on the kit. As in fit and finish and performance comparison between the HR and a stock body? Thanks!
@VermontScaleCustoms
@VermontScaleCustoms 3 жыл бұрын
If I order a second one and build it, I definitely will. I'm not sure I'd be in to tearing this one down and rebuilding it for that purpose. To answer your questions, though, 1) yes, I used my Hot Racing link made kit for the 1/24 Deadbolt, 2) a big thing to look out for is have enough room for the roof to clear the ESC, so mount it as far forward as possible without hanging over, 3) The kit is simple but it's awesome. Well made, easy to assemble and everything fits exactly the way it should, 4) the overall performance difference is night and day. I've personally never run a rock rig, but, to go from how the Rubicon handled and drove compared to how it does after this mod, it doesn't even feel like the same RC. I have the Barrage replacement motor in it and it has plenty of power to handle the extra weight of the all aluminum chassis. I used the silver springs on the shocks all the way around and it's perfect. It carries the weight very well. Stay tuned for that video, I may order another chassis soon.

@VermontScaleCustoms
@VermontScaleCustoms 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for stopping by to check out the video! Congrats on taking the plunge with the Deadbolt, too. It'll be great to get a feel for it before modding up this chassis. I found that it really set it up to shift all the weight forward. That really helps with climbing by putting more down pressure on the front end for better traction and articulation. Plus, it was something different to run when I picked it up at a point when everyone was putting HiLux bodies on these. I do like me some hard bodies, I just wanted a more solid, all-metal option. I recommend the full modification treatment over time or all at once. Whatever your budget will allow. I've been adding on to this ever since and every little thing just keeps making it that much better.

So how did it go? It's been 6 months so have you got in over your head or are you a rock bouncing master? I just started a month ago with a c10 my son had purchased for himself but didn't get into it and gave it to me now I have the full furitek komodo, lizard pro, new radio link RC6GS 6 channel for rear wheel steer all the brass you can bolt on and converted to aluminum rock bouncer chassis stretched front end high clearance 4link all corners huge servo front back and 64mm little guy tires oh and did I mention I'm already bored with the komodo so I'm moving to the Godzilla motor for lighting speed. Lol oh man this all sounds like I'm padding my self on the back but that's not at all I am saying how easy it was to get in over my head and it's like an addiction I can't stop upgrading the little truck (nope not a truck now) ha I'm leaving now! @@timwegman5776 Hey! So, aside from new batteries I haven't purchased anything haha The only upgrades on the deadbolt I have done ones I did on a 3d printer and I enjoyed the challenge of running the truck near stock. Building and arranging cardboard obstacles is fun and the stock system has been more than adequate. After a few weeks of using it I decided to hold off from the full Komodo setup and put the money towards the Traxxas 1/10 K5 Blazer + lighting kit, that i'll eventually get.

OK couple of things maybe you can help me with starting from the front end to the backend did you mount your ESC upfront? And where did you locate your battery? Also the cross beams that go in the chassis I’m assuming that your shocks have to thread into those since the side plates are not threaded am I correct?
@VermontScaleCustoms
@VermontScaleCustoms 3 жыл бұрын
Anything I can do to help, I will. Yes, I did mount the ESC up front so the wires would actually reach the Servo and headlights, too. The battery got mounted toward the rear and I used the stock Axial velcro strap. Yes, the silver cross beams are for the shocks and other support. The placement on the front one is tricky. I used a pair of needle nose to get it slid in to position. Just be patient, take deep breaths (lol) and eventually, after about 5-6 tries like me, you'll get it in there! I've got an all day class Saturday but I will get more in depth in a video I'll do this evening or tomorrow.

@VermontScaleCustoms
@VermontScaleCustoms 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and thanks for your question. When I first built this up, I wrapped a zip tie around the bar in the rear that the tops of the rear shocks get bolted to and threaded it through the holes of the wheel. It added a little too much weight in the back for my tastes, though. Try it, run it, and see what you think. It looks cool but its function sort of lacks purpose.

It's possible to mount the ESC under the canopy. I just mounted this one like it is because of the length of the servo cable and the lights. The other caveat to that is having the Li-Po battery exposed up front. It's not bad really, seems to handle rollovers pretty well.

@@VermontScaleCustoms It's surprising that after a year only one person gets the problem here. If you're into "slow crawl" you shouldn't have a video that's titled "rock racer". Rock racing/bouncing and crawling are not even remotely close to the same thing. I wasted my time coming to this video because it said you were building a rock racer and all I got was another of 1 million videos of rock crawling. Pretty disappointing.

@@johnsland8786 Oh, was that a troll attempt? Are you here to remind me how Hot Racing contacted me, personally, to thank me for this video since they released a kit with no instructions? Or, do you just need some attention? My suggestion to you would be to start your own channel, make a video that has 11,640 views and see how you'd respond to someone trying to just be a dick.
