Just the regular FMS two speed transmission swap into an scx24 Gladiator. lol

Thanks for showing! Pretty cool. Feels like running a Furitek with the old axial scx 24 radio and using the different switches for control or speed. I personally prefer a single speed that has a good mix of torque and speed so including have to switch between gears
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
I like it but definitely not suited for any kind of competition due to its high center of gravity but I think I can make better, already tearing it apart to get inside its guts!!!🤣

Well I started on a mount to make this swap but ran out of time. Haven’t been able to mess with it in a couple days. Think I’ll stick to fcx24 axles if they get some metal gears though. Those worm gears killed the speed. High is like low lol. Hopefully we will just get some chassis options for the fcx24 soon! Hint hint 😉
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
Working on that as well😉. But yeah, this set up is mainly for those looking for extra slow. I think the fcx will open up the door to a different class altogether if we can bring enough support for it🤔. SCX24 is the king of slow which is great for comps but I feel the extra speed of the rcx makes for a more "fun" experience if you have enough room for it.

@@Gamyrc yeah I’m honestly sick of the worm gears. Crawling with the fcx24 made me wanna never go back. Then I stripped a gear on the fcx and basically had to 😆

Anyone got an adapter plate made yet?

Excellent! Now the real question is, when will the adapter plate be for sale? Thanks for sharing!

I was hoping to see this done. Actually I was hoping to do this myself. Budget constraints have prevented me from doing so.
@ADHDNME7779 ай бұрын
It has a lot more support and aftermarket. It however does not perform as well as the fcx24. I also have both tricked out and tuned. The fcx24 always does better.

Well done! I knew it was just a matter of time. Curious to see what difference a Lizard makes. Micro Komodo is an odd choice unless you throw a big pinion on it. I think I'd rather go higher KV 1410 inrunner. I think it'd be an easier swap as well.
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
Micro Komodo is just stronger and has really good low end torque. But, yes the 1410 would work as well.
@BlackCrownRC30 Жыл бұрын
Is that just the transmission swapped or is that the motor swapped with it as a whole cause i was thinking how would it be if you used the whole setup bet that gladiator would rip probably gonna do it with my max smasher and bronco scx24
@farmboyrc11 ай бұрын
Do you have a file for the skid plate?
@cardboardcrawlersrc88052 жыл бұрын
It seems to me that this “upgrade may be redundant in that why shift gears when you get that much slow roll and good speed out of the Komodo set up? Asking for a friend
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
The benefit will come from having different speeds regardless of motor used. This setup was using the stock 130 motor which is by no means a great motor, once you swap to a "better" motor you would see much better results. The Komodo motors are great at low speed control but some guys like trail riding as well and uf geared too slow they have issues achieving fast enough speeds to keep up with the other guys. This gives you that extra bit of flexibility. The gear ratios on this trans are far enough apart that it makes it seem like two different vehicles. BUT, there is the penalty of slightly higher sitting motor which would hurt in competition crawlers so deffinetly not for those cases.

With the stock axial axels top speed in high really isn’t faster than the stock transmission.
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. You just gain the super low speed. The beauty of this trans will only show when we start using different kv motors on it. For now is more of a "extra something" thats all.

Someone just needs to make a flat LCG 2 speed transmission for the scx24. Come on you guys with 3d printers, get to it!
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
Lolol, boy I just mentioned it on the video that Ive been working on one! The problem has always been sourcing the specialized gearing to make the engagement mechanism. And now that this one us out what I may do is rearrange some stuff to make it better since they already provided hard part🤷🏻♂️.
@acreus2 жыл бұрын
I did catch that, and that's awesome! I've also been considering how this would be done, but like you said, the layout of the fcx24 transmission is not ideal for LCG in scx24. I was suggesting someone redesign a 2speed transmission with a "flat" layout. I drew up a design of what i envision, however i lack time a resources to follow through with it. Prior to the release of FMS version, i found Orlando made a 1/34 scale 2speed transmission that's small and metal. Only thing is, its output shafts are reversed and it's $100 USD.
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
@@acreus Thats and they motor choice for it is too weak for our use. But it is really cool they managed to get it that small.
@acreus2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine you could make a custom motor mount to add the motor of your choice to the Orlando 2spd transmission and servo. Then you would have a smaller transmission made of medal. As long as the smaller transmission can hold up to the amount of torque an scx motor produces, i don't see why this wouldnt be a better option to modify than the fcx24 2spd transmission.
@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
@@acreus Price and reliability would be the issue in my mind. Sadly like you pointed out, that trans is really expensive and being so small theres no way theres enough gear strength to handle the brushless motors we are throwing at the scx24 now😔.

@Gamyrc2 жыл бұрын
Lol, your in the wrong hobby my friend. Everyone has opinions on why slow or fast is better in this game. No such thing as a fact unless thats the opinion you hold. Everyone just has their preferences and it just seems most enjoy the slow speed better for more precise control but like I said you would have to be the judge of that to decide if thats a fact or not🤷🏻♂️.

@@Gamyrc I suppose one indisputable fact about going slow is you have more time to correct driving/driver mistakes. 😁
