"Ridna Maty Moya" is a most poignant Ukrainian song. The link above to Stepan Pasicznyk's English rendition is a very artistic translation. I have taken a stab at a more literal one: Dearest mother of mine, you’ve not slept every night, You led me by hand to fields ‘round the village, On the long road of life, You bid me farewell at twilight one morn’, And for good fortune embroidered a kerchief for me.
