helmsman is very boring for pve yea, but in pvp i think its the hardest job to execute well. feels really good when u know u set your team up to win

I do play open crew from time to time and most of the time after retrying or cycling some of the crew you get nice ships with more long time sot players who like to meet some new people. I got into the craziest servers with open crew. But it takes some time to get a fun crew.

I love open crew, I have no friends so I have to use it when I want to do something daunting for a solo player. Every like 1 out of 5 lobbies has someone who actually communicates, and about 1 out of 10 lobbies is a good one.

Open Crew is simultaneously the best and worst part of Sea of Thieves. You will almost never have a very productive run, but you will have a story to tell almost every time. Usually, you'll have a short story about the creative way you fled a shit crew.
