I think the devs have said they plan to release a physical edition next year, though. quick search I came up with this, "Sea Of Stars Scores A Physical Release On Switch Early Next Year. Ahead of the digital launch of the retro-inspired RPG Sea of Stars, physical distributor 'iam8bit' and Sabotage Studio have announced a hard copy version is coming to the Nintendo Switch"

I love this game. I can see the references to Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia and Golden Sun. The french-canadian references are also a nice touch. Some story twists I saw coming and some I didn't. Combats can sometimes be long though. Also, they should have made Teaks playable.

ive never played chrono trigger but i dont even feel like playing it after witnessing the masterpiece that is sea of stars. congrats on the quebec studio sabotage for pulling this off

Sea of Stars is absolutely amazing, but so is Chrono Trigger. You need to experience it at least once…or twice, or like 13 times…

I have this game due to PS Plus. I have to say, I'm diggin the art style. I'm diggin everything about the game so far. I do plan on getting this on Nintendo switch most definitely but since I already have it on PS plus I can hold out just for a little bit until I can save up for it.

can't wait to dive into this one. Been looking forward to it since a friend put this on my radar last year. Just have to finish up ACVI then I'll probably, hopefully, jump into Sea of Stars. Here's hoping this game sells like hot cakes so the developers can create [hopefully] another gem.

The pixel artwork reminds me heavily of the original Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana, and that game is freakin' beautiful. Sea of Stars looks at least as good as that, so I'm here for it.

sea of stars is a great game. if you guys dont know, another game called the messenger takes place is the same world and playing that game expands on the lore and makes sea of stars even better

This is definitely a physical must buy. I'm almost 45 so this hits directly to that less worrisome time in high school. No taxes, no mortgage..... Just locking yourself up with bags of Lay's and playing secret of mana, xenogears, phantasy Star, chronic trigger, etc. Meanwhile your parents get worried, because you don't leave your room and they don't know if you're making any actual progress at school😂😂😂😂😂😂

What this game did with the art decisions, and what Suikoden is doing with their remasters, looks more pleasing to the eye than the HD2D SE is doing.

i'm conflicted, it's great that the game is available for PS Plus and Game Pass which I have both, however, I want to own this gem but really want to play it on steam deck but then OLED will look so fine on the switch. /sigh

How about the combat? The most frequent complain is that it’s very shallow, but otherwise looks amazing.

Silly complaint honestly. So many rpgs are just here's your next ability! No point in using the last ability now! Nope. Not this game. The depth in fighting is around the lock system, combo system, magic system, and timed hit system. Master all 4 and you will learn endless ways to tackle enemies.

This was my most anticipated game of the year, however ngl, kinda disappointed, didn't quite live up to my expectations. not much exploration, bland characters, basic weapons, was exciting for fishing but not much incentive to do it. the storyline is pretty decent, graphics are amazing and I enjoyed some of the puzzles. 7.5 for me.

Sea of Stars is hands down my favorite game that’s come out this year 🤘it has a great story, breathtaking visuals, fun and interactive combat and sooo much more. If you haven’t bought this yet, you’re missing out!

I was realy disappointed with this game... The graphyc is really beautiful and the music too, but the combat is mediocre..and the story is a mess. They realy didnt had a concept of what kind of story they wanted to tell.... The main characters have no depth at all, no real personalitys at all, some of the side characters are much more interesting. Im really sorry for fealing this way about it because like I mentioned, the graphyc and music is realy good...but in a RPG the story and character design/growth should be the focus

I agree, graphics and the puzzles are good, however everything else was lacking, its an ok game but deffo overhyped, nowhere near as good as Chained Echoes.

@@HipnotikHylian mate.. the Cap is that they advertised it as “inspired by Chrono trigger…” and what they did was they have copy pasted some aspects, of Chrono without making it adjust to their own story. If you played both games you know what I mean

@@balidr the two main characters are partially hollow shells, like Chrono was really nobody in the game, like how master chief was really nobody in the game, Valere and Zale are the same way. Look at all the other characters, soooo many great characters to interact with. Combat is limited and simple, but it’s very progressive and has puzzle like elements that change how you play by the end of the game. My biggest issue with the whole Sea of Stars vs Chained Echoes conversation that has gone on, is that it’s like trying to compare Chrono Trigger and FFVI… Why ? They shouldn’t be compared, they should be celebrated together for giving us two amazing games at a time we needed them. The fact they are both so different is exactly why the “VS” needs to be changed to a n “&”. As in, Sea of Stars & Chained Echoes, two of the best indie JRPGs ever made. Not, Sea of Stars vs Chained Echoes, why one is the best indie JRPG and one is the most overhyped indie JRPG. Which one is which ? Well that depends on who your favorite indie JRPG KZfaqr is and which developer sponsored them, or which one wrote a bigger check…

This game deserves a 7 score. The story is slow and boring with hollow dialogues and bland protagonists. Not every rpg needs a good story if the focus is the gameplay but in this case, the combat is very limited with only 4 moves per character, lack of interesting equipment, little exploration, simple puzzles; not giving freedom to the player, becoming repetitive very fast. The music don't always fit, it feels too forced at moments resulting in a lack of identity. Is weird that almost every review ignore this kind of details. Is not the gem I was hoping for.

This game does loook very fun Chrono Trigger is just pure joy and awesome too bad i never played it someday I’ll be able to play this and makes you feel like it’s a game for you.
