Playing alone goes fine, as does taking down another crew, until your mast has gone down; on a sloop against larger crews, a lost mast is almost always a lost battle🙃
@leejordan5739
@leejordan5739 3 жыл бұрын
One strategy I like to try is to curve into the broadside if I notice a lot of chainshot. If you turn the mast 90 degrees, they have a smaller target, and being perpendicular to tge bugger ship, they actually have less of an angle on you. But yup, once its down you have to find an ace in the hole quick, or find a good enough distraction.

This is true, if you are unable to catch it before it falls. If you can recognize the sound of your mast breaking and act quick enough, you can stop it before it even starts to falls. Just make sure to patch it with at least one plank. Be speedy.

My favorite trick, on a duo sloop, is to go into the wind so the other ship starts to catch up, then when they get really close, anchor turn. Both of you raise the anchor and you'll be going the other direction against the wind. By the time they turn around, you'll be too far away and can just torture them with long distance boarding attempts

Your guides have helped me a lot. Yesterday I sank my first galleon with a friend while we were on a sloop. It all went like this, kinda: So first we got sunk by another sloop and they stole our crescent isle vault key. We respawned at Golden Sands so I tucked on the island while my friend was hiding with our ship up north behind some rocks. After a long while of waiting we saw a galleon heading straight for Crescent, so I assumed they had a vault key. They did. I let them do the vault as usual and when the door shut and they were moving the loot I exploded a keg that I hid nearby. My friend pulled up with our sloop and set their ship on fire while distracting the other two crew members. When all four were dead I got a keg onto their ship and set it off. They sank pretty quick and we killed everyone but one person who was escaping on a rowboat towards Golden Sands. We chased him, harpooned him onto a our boat and my buddy got rid of him. When we were arriving at Golden Sands we saw the galleon coming back for more. Both ships circled the island while part of each crew was dueling in the outpost to sell most of the loot. Holy cow it was so fun. We ended up singing shanties afterwards.

I remember minding my own business as a sloop; I was docked at a seapost right by the Fort of the Damned, and there were 2 ships at the fort, one of which was a galleon. Apparently, they considered me a threat, because they sailed over and sank me without warning. So, when I respawned, I sailed back, being sure to stop by an inactive fort to grab a few kegs first. I put 2 up on the prow, and kept the 3rd by me back by the wheel; I sailed straight into the galleon, ramming it and shooting one of the kegs on the prow, then jumped off with the 3rd in hand. I swam under the galleon, lit the fuse and released it, then swam up to the ladder and boarded it while the 3rd keg went off and rocked the ship. They were so confused between doing the fort and trying to save their ship that they forgot both and tried to kill me instead, while they sank to the bottom. I then killed the entire crew before being finished off by the crew of the second ship. Oh, the fun you can have when you're by yourself. :D

The BIGGEST factor when PvPing (guns/swords) bigger crews is this: Good Food. Ideally all cooked meat / pineapples. So underrated. With 5 pineapples you can heal back to 100 10 times. Always choose to dodge attacks and eating over taking your next shot. They will soon run out of food and be done, or they will get impatient, or irrational with the adrenaline and give you an opportunity. You can easily take out average brig or galleon crews with above average skills if you have the best food. Cannon off to islands while sailing to kill animals and get meat 5 times and you’ll be set for the session.

My friend and I had to deal with a reaper 5 galleon as a duo sloop, and it was pretty challenging. We both dealt crippling blows but couldn't capitalize on it. I'd take down their masts, then have to maneuver around a rock. They would drop our anchor, but be sailing in an opposite direction. The galleon eventually sunk after ~5 broadside runs. You see, one mechanic about the galleon is that unlike the sloop or brig, the mid deck holes don't spout water until bottom deck is full. That's why, when fighting galleons, people usually aim too low, as they are aiming for the sea level. But with mid deck holes, most galleon crews ignore them until there is nothing else to do. However, I took advantage of this. My friend and I survived a broadside trade, and cut the galleon off after it turned around. I got on the cannon, and first took 2 of their masts. As they approached, I loaded my ace - the ballast ball: The fastest way to sink a lazy galleon crew. And with one more weary ball, they filled up stupid quickly. The battle was over in that moment. The reapers already banked, and used the emissary power to hunt us. They were also very good with resource management. None of their storage crates gave us a decent amount of food or wood, and no cannonballs or chain. So, kudos to that open crew reaper 5 galleon. They were pretty chill and traded a GG after they attempted spawn camping our ship. Fun Fact: If you are facing an enemy that is lazy or overwhelmed, there is no need to board. As a duo sloop, drop their masts and raise yours to half. From there, have one person on wheel and one person on cannons, turning your target to Swiss cheese. Launch a curse here and there if they are holding up, and an enemy that was already feeling overwhelmed and exhausted will not be able to maintain that many holes. I've noticed that this mainly works on high levelled emissaries, who had to play for a decent chunk of time to get to their emissary level. They are more likely to be worn and exhausted than some gold hoarder 1 who is leaving an outpost.

story i wanna share: i was casually playing with my friend on a sloop with the 2 of us we took 10 minutes to realise it was a farming server where 3 galleons were killing each other then selling the emissary sails for free rep, he had to go somewhere and while he went, a fort of fortune appeared. I sailed over and parked in a blind spot for the towers and then he came back. I told him what i was doing and told him to join my session again. We both started doing the waves and soon realised it was fairly difficult for 2 people but a nice challenge. on around the third round a galleon containing 2 pirate legends and 2 non pirate legends. we would continuously try and kill it then we would sink and they would remain, after many attempts i created an idea: keg them twice at 2 different times. So we sneaked up to a rock near the island then cannoned ourselves over. We found a tower with 2 kegs so we coordinated an idea. We would both sneak on and one would go to the bottom of the galleon and one would climb into the crows nest. My friend was at the bottom then detonated his and luckily survived, I then dropped mine from above but broke my leg from the fall and couldn't escape the blast. My friend survived and then killed them so their ship sunk. We sank them 2 more times with other ridiculous ways and we were having a blast so we didn't mind if we didn't win. Anyway, eventually we made the galleon rage-quit and we continued with the battles against the armies of skeletons. Soon after a different galleon with 3 people who were all Pirate legend arrived to kill us. At first we thought they were new due to their skill and ship customisation but we killed them and sank them twice. Eventually my friend had to go so it was just me left, the second galleon was still afoot and i was alone and scared. I didn't stand a chance so i tucked on them to strike an opportunity which i thought would arise. part 2: I gave up after a while of tucking and tried to find a different approach so i sneaked off their ship to hide in a tour. I found 2 more kegs and i noticed they were also keeping my ship near them alive so they could spawn camp me (a common thing people try to do to me). I realised 2 people were left and one of them was looking for me so I knew only one was on the ship. I picked up a keg and waited for the person looking for me to be out the way. I jumped onto their ship and detonated the keg but died. Luckily, they were keeping my ship alive so i used that to cannon away to the tower again which had the keg. I snuck back onto the enemy's ship again to keg them with the other keg i picked up. I kegged from the bottom then hid using the barrel emote and waited for them to try and repair. I shot one in the back and realised the other two had vanished so they sank. 2 of them raged and left then one of them was still alive. I met him on the island and fought him. Using phuzzy's sword strategies i won and had all the fort loot to me because they finished the fort whilst i was tucking. I got nervous because i saw two mermaids and I didnt have a ship. I picked up 5 bits of loot then left using a nearby row boat which took me a while to find an outpost but i got there eventually. I sold 5 things and was eager to tell my friends so I did. I returned to my ship using a mermaid to return to the island and see if there was any loot left. Luckily it was all left but due to the fight earlier there weren't any kegs because I tried kegging him with the mega kegs in the vault. I had all the other loot though and took it aboard my ship and sold it. This all happened from about 9 o' clock up until 12:30 today. YES IT TOOK 3 HOURS TO DO THE FORT. This was my favourite journey on sea of thieves and me and my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed my story and i hope you can experience something like this on your adventures. Thank you for listening. the end

As much as it's rude, if you're trying to escape, and have gotten on the enemies boat, stay there for a spawn kill if you're trying to escape. The ships simply don't move at high enough speeds to get away without the enemy seeing your direction traveled. I leave them in a mess if they pick a fight. Anchor down, ship on fire, both harpoons stuck to the seabed or rocks if possible, sail down, mast aimed against the wind, as many cannon balls and good food as I can bring as well. Minimize their chance of coming back Ooh big tip: kill only one at a time. If the enemy is at one man when you're at 2, and constantly waiting for their other friend to switch out of respawn, you'll constantly have the advantage, even if you're trying to teach a brand new player like me, you're rusty like me, and stoned like me. Use that pot paranoia to be your ships lookout for sails on the horizon lol

Idk if this is a valuable strat lol or if it's already a thing but when outnumbered I mainly kill one of their crew, jump off or escape and make it seem as if I'm running, and take the opportunity to eat something if I need it, and go back real fast and kill them while they are reviving, you'd be surprised at how many ppl ignore you when they are reviving a teamate

I understand why she keeps saying it's unfair but it's not you trade the ability for damn near constant revives for the absolutely insane maneuverability of the sloop just like they trade the app salute maneuver ability of sloop for more crew and more cannons now while that is true that in some situations it matters one party and in some situations it matters another

I sank a galleon as a solo sloop (I am more of a PvE than PvP) only because I had more supplies than they did. I used over 100 cannon balls though haha.

My favourite way of deling with a bigger crew on a brig/gally, is just to sail towards the wind. Faster than both of em

Definitely important to know your surroundings and capitalize on them when you can. It's how I sunk my first player ship: a brigantine Reaper was camping Ashen Lord, so I knocked out their masts and bombarded them with cannonballs, forcing them to have to fight two enemies at once.

The Greifers like to ask that. You also will get rolls on Deck laughing. Ram you and set your ship on fire. Rare needs a feature to set the Game to on line or off. Simple as that.

Great video, did the Galleon produce a bountiful reward? Also I experimented with what I call the "Anchor Tree", in an attempt to thwart boarders from easily anchoring my ship, Have you done the same? Basically layer your anchor with empty containers or Merchant crates, making a Holiday Tree out of your Anchor. It did work for the boarder picked up a crate versus anchoring. Is this a viable strat?

Everytime I find a grog chest I put it on my anchor for the same reason, though I haven't been attacked with one yet so I'm not sure if it works
