Unless people with bad lives appear to you (thieves-drug addicts; gangs), be careful there.

I went a lot of times in Peru as my wife is Peruvian. I saw a lot of Peru, Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Cusco... This village you show in this video is how poor people live not the midle class.

I'm from Perú, I've lived in Lima for 10 years and I can say that this is totally true. If you travel to places in the Andes, the sitaution is similar, thanks for sharing it.

This is how the lower middle class lives (they own their houses and are made of concrete, not cardboard and have electricity, etc) The poor people live in the cardboard houses, about 20% of Peru's population, 8% of Lima's population. The real problem are the public goods. If it was all paved, greened (Peruvian coast is a desert) all the houses finished/painted, it would aesthetically look 1000% better but the people's income would not change, however everyone looking in would think "ah this is middle class".

@@jctorres6112 I actually visited Lima along the coast after writing that (which was very nice in May/June). Yeah I guess the population extends quite far from the city proper before it becomes uninhabited or large farms. And outside of Lima (even in other "cities") the concrete and drainage is not adequate. Chiclayo smells like an open sewer during the rainy season. Much more pleasant the climate and lack of mosquitoes/flies up at elevation in the mountains.
