KENPO Prance of the Tiger - Jamie Seabrook

3 жыл бұрынIn this video, I demonstrate Prance of the Tiger, which is an American Kenpo self-defense technique required for 2nd Degree Brown Belt for schools following the 24-technique system. Prance of the Tiger is also contained in Long 4 but starts from a kneeling position after finishing Bowing to Buddha.

I see it's a complex technique. With a little touch of Thundering Hammers in the middle. I usually watch different variations or interpretations of one single technique. Now I realize that each one of those makes a valuable contribution for variable street situations and personal reactions as well. Thank you very much Master Jamie for sharing this advanced technique in the system.

This is a great technique. I had Larry Tatum do it on me at a seminar. It was a very enlightening and painful experience :)

Thanks, so much Terry. This wasn't one of my favorite techniques until 2005 when I was GM Larry Tatum's uke during his seminar in Las Vegas. It's fair to say that I got an all new appreciation for how ferocious this technique really is :) Since that time, I've tried to provide my own insights into making this technique work for a street self-defense scenario.

Thanks, great explanation of the technique, it’s one that I have struggled to apply with flow but that’s inspired me to revisit it.

Thanks very much for your comment. It can also be a very painful experience if you are the uke. I remember Grandmaster Larry Tatum doing this technique on me back in 2005. That was quite the experience but, of course, it was an honor to be hit by him.

I like the idea of grabbing. I dont like to lose control of my opponent but by grabbing his shoulder you keep control ,love it

Good one! Yes, Prance of the Tiger in American Kenpo is what Tracy Kenpo call The Lotus.
