so bad for the environment - it takes the seafloor forever to recover from this trawling - the corals etc and anemones etc are all destroyed

it is very sad to see how the fish are trying to escape from the trawling with not luck......this is how we are killing the oceans.

once sea water reaches depth, nothing else attached to the bottom can live because of the very low light conditions. Any where the water is relatively shallow and contains clay or silt particles,. there is very minimal growth of attached creatures anyway. Trawl can not withstand most hard shelled creatures without major damage occurring. Actually, trawling is similar to plowing land for agriculture. It actually helps production. By catch increases the health and prosperity of any creature able to follow a boat. Storms do the same thing trawling does. They stir the bottom, and revitalize the creatures there. Besides, most of the sea creatures use a system of MAJOR over production to maintain volumes of creatures in the food chain. In other words, the sea has a system of reproduction that starts with millions of new born, and ends with just a few mature adults. They are designed to be destroyed (eaten) with a phenominal reproduction cycle.
