Seafret, when this came out I was homeless, in and out of jail, and unhealthy. Now I have a house, a good job, and a husband. This song and “Clover Cage - The Lone Dancer” are the two songs that helped with my depression. I just want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together. I love you ❤🎉

Thank you for all your kind words. I have my mom home now on hospice end of life care. She is content to be home .my dad is happy she is home but still very difficult to deal with. I'm the main care giver and on a little bit of a break and took a back road drive .seems I'm always coming back to this song these days. XX

when i was traveling, i heard seafret for the first time. It reminded me of my best friend who had problems with drugs. there was a big distance between us like an ocean, I was here and she was there - so unapproachable ... when she died this year, I directed "Oceans" to play at her funeral. this song sparked a wave of mourning. "This song’s perfect that fits between her in the sky and me on earth - „It feels like there's oceans between me and you once again“

I have a theory about the connection of the song and the video: The real story here in my opinion is about someone who is so different on the surface, in the way she acts, from who she really is. "me" and "you" in the song are basically the same person who just feels so far away from her true self. There are oceans between them like stated in the song. In the video that girl puts on the mask and the cape to try to be more like herself, and the bullies symbol the difficulties in the process, they are the ones pulling her down. They make her hide her emotions and act normal instead of just being herself, and when she tries to resist them like in the video she gets hurt. In the end she finally overcomes the struggles of fighting to be her true self and by her power which is her emotions she finally becomes her true self, who she really wants to be. Weather or not this theory is true I find it highly interesting so I'm just sharing it here.

@Michaël RANDRIAMAHERISOA I just think you guys are overthinking about the meaning of the song and the video altogether. In my opinion, the song is for someone else like a girlfriend, crush, and that shit, and the history portraited in the video is just one artistical vision that they thought later after writing the song and that, if looked from another perspective, still holds on to the same feeling, or something similar, to what they used as an inspiration to make the song.

This is so amazing. Video, music, words, all this creates a perfect entirety. Showing us, how alone we are, how dificult is to be yourself. We create masks to hide our true personality, to survive in this world, full of people who just can't accept, and even try to understand how different we are. We belive that we have power to show them how wrong they are. But we don't feel anger for them, they just make us sad. So sad. For what reason they are full of hate ? From what reason these people feel so much fear ? We don't know. We can just belive that they some day found themselves, and that they won't have to go through misery which they inflicted us. And, you know, I cried when this little girl jumped into the arms of her mother. I was touched so much in that moment, and the mother realisation is so fucking great. In this whole sick world, this little hero has person, who means everything for her. Probably I will often back to this piece of art, because ... I haven't got that person. I haven't got anybody whom I can jumped into arms. And I'm not a hero. I can only put my mask, and look for someone, for whom I can throw off my falsehood, and show the real me, without fear. And still, I belive. Sorry for my english.

I know someone like you, even the person is mad because she doesn't know what she want. she's lost but we should keep in mind even when they push you away you shouldn't leave. You should stay with the person you want to fight for. Alot of people pretend just because no one cares who they really are. And that's sad, it's not how you look or from the outside. It's from the inside the story that's behind that mask. And that's what people don't see, can't see , don't want to see. I really can relate how you feel. Keep in mind there's always someone out there waiting for you.

Used to play this song when my parents first divorced, I was just 10. My dad moved 6 hours away and I was stuck with my mom who was an alcoholic and had mental problems, and around this time was the first time I self harmed. I really wish I could go back in time and save myself. Looking back on this song makes me really nostalgic.

I did have that conversation under the starry night. Well, that conversation we had meant to be a one that fixes problems but ended up being our last conversation. He didnt even realise how heartbreaking that moment was but I knew. I was witnessing a broke up. I as witnessing a give up. I was witnessing his cold gaze and tired look. My words couldt reach out to him, whatever I said he just stand against. He was all on defense while all I need was his warmth. Warmth of forgiving but I saw the walls he build up. He was quite right to do that but he wasnt right when he said, "İts okay, we good now" at the end, then never contact me again. He expect me to climb on the walls he build between us but I was tired and I really needed him to come to me. That night, he showed me, he will never come to my way. He wont hold me but gladly push me away. I saw him today and think, how can someone be that beautiful and cruel at the same time.
