Very rare pre & actual production scenes of Hollywood's "Molly Maguires" with Sean Connery, Richard Harris, Samantha Eggar and other Hollywood production people, props and equipment! Filmed in Eckley, Llewellyn, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. can you identify any of the people? Please post in the comments bellow. Enjoy!

I was just out of the army and looking for work. The unemployment office sent me up to work as an extra. I was hired because my ancestors lived the struggle. It was a lot of standing around waiting for the stars to sober up. I had an on screen solo shot in the middle of the film changing the numbers on the scoreboard. This experience made me decide to forget acting and look for a real job.

Just visited Eckley Miner’s Village today. Quite eery as I was the only one there. Still a few houses that people own and live in. Museum is well done and lots of cool mining artifacts. The breaker is still there although crumbling quite a bit. Many of the houses still are in great condition. Really a hidden gem. Didn’t realize they shot the movie there and most of it looks the same as this movie.

Was fortunate to have walked this set back when I was a kid still in high school. It appears what you have here is 2 separate shooting days. The first is prepping the scene where the primaries exit the front of the church and have discussion with the priest after Sunday services. (Richard Harris seems to be having a lot of trouble with that script!) The second was the big soccer scene that utilized every extra they could get in costume. (You see Bourneuf in his bright blue shirt civvys here, but he was in the scene, too, as I recall. Skipped school the day after the evening premiere to attend the first regular showing of the film.

In the summer of 1970 I was 16 and working at the Traymore Hotel in Atlantic City. I worked with two guys from Great Britain who had been extras on the shoot. They used to love to talk about it. That was cool, I liked listening.

Eckley Miners Village is a *fantastic* historical gem, a great treasure of Pennsylvania! Until the pandemic ends, it's just a passive park for socially-distanced observation... no trash containers nor restrooms...

7:58 actor Malachy McCourt, younger brother of author Frank McCourt who wrote "Angela's Ashes". He owned a pub in Manhattan frequented by Richard Harris, which was probably how he got the role of a bartender in this film.

@gigglefishy Actually, Malachy McCourt was also an author. His great book was the funny play on words about the Catholic "Hail Mary" prayer, entitled "A Monk Swimming"! It's what many Irish and American kids thought was the words to the prayer: "Hail Mary, full of grace Blessed art thou "A Monk Swimming", instead of "amongst women"😁😆🤣😅! In fact, Malachy was a Regular companion of Richard Harris whenever he was a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and The Merv Griffin Show! Richard and Malachy were the best of mates, often appearing drunk together when they came on those two shows. True Story, both the Book's Title. And Richard and Malachy as drinkin' mates, before Malachy stopped drinkin in his later years. I knew Malachy, as I was a very good friend of the great Actor/Playwright Jason Miller, of "That Championship Season" fame and as Father Damien in The Exorcist. Malachy used to do several plays with Jason for Scranton Public Theatre in the 90's. I was fortunate to be in Malachy's company many a time. He was a Brilliant story teller and funny fellow.

You are right. Bourneuf can be seen in his priest wardrobe early on near the church and then in his street clothes at 17:35. Excellent casting.

Perhaps, But it's better to have the silent clip than no clip at all - a moving photo. Photographs have no sound either, but they are still valuable to have.

Yes, music would give a bit of depth and maybe identifying captions for the celebrities as well as a modicum of narration for background.
