I think the way he's explained it before was that he didn't want to be a stereotype. Jack is very flamboyant while Sean Hayes and most gay men really aren't like that. Jack is one of my favorite characters on the show but people would have a hard time seperating Jack from Sean Hayes.

HE WAS ALREADY OUT HE CHOSE TO INCLUDE THE PUBLIC STRIAGHT PPL JUST DONT GET IT WHEN CELELBS COME OUT TO THE PUBLIC ITS JUST THAT THEY DONT HAVE TO LET ANYONE KNOW ITS THEIR BUSINESS BEING GAY AND PROUD IS THE MOST BRAVE THING A PERSON CAN DO

With all due respect and u mean this in the best way... I don't feel that if you are in the public eye: actor, athlete, politician, journalist, whatever profession, you don't owe it to the public to "come out" and "announce" that you're gay because it's really not in our business to know. Many people speculate and put pressure for people to say come out and to say they are gay, but honestly who cares. It's really up to someone to say whether they are gay or not and really up to them if they want to disclose information about themselves. We need to respect people's choices and people's privacy.

I only found out a couple of days ago that he hadn't come out publicly until after Will and Grace. I was stunned. Of course Jack's a very flamboyant character but you don't have to be a genius to realise that Sean Hayes was also gay! I knew that Eric McCormick (Will) was straight and playing a gay character.

You're straight, right? Well, let me tell you this about coming out: it's not about you, it's about the person who does it. Doesn't matter if you can see it, if you knew it before he/she came out, it's a process that person has to go through. Like Sean said: he wasn't ready to be the spokesperson for an entire community, and when you're famous that's what happens.

People knowing you're gay and coming out to those around you are very different. I urge you to find the video where he explains how his Mom reacted when he told her.

I never assumed any of those people were gay. Who the hell is saying Sean Penn is gay? Guy has slept with every blonde in Hollywood lol. People knew Sean Hayes was gay for years now, but since he was not an A lister a lot of people never cared.
