According to an ESPN report, sources say Arizona Wildcats head basketball coach Sean Miller was recorded by an FBI wiretap discussing a $100,000 payment to ensure top recruit DeAndre Ayton would attend Arizona.

I did wonder how Miller got Ayton to sign. Once his assistant got caught I had a gut feeling Miller was next. Miller can coach but he is no Lute Olson. Lute was calm, smart coach while Miller teller, sweats like crazy on the bench. If Lute had the talent Miller had they would Final four and won.

The small payments to parents, etc. that the earlier report will, eventually, be overlooked I think. These large sum payments, whether or not there is direct tie to the coach or program like this one, is what will ultimately be pursued and punsihed by the NCAA in any meaningful way. There are more of these revelations to go, more $50-$100K payments by either agencies or programs. This is merely the first of the real meat of the story.

Geez, this guy is going to get villified now. The problem is not what Miller did, as Max has pointed out. It's when the NCAA and schools profit tens and hundreds of millions of dollars off of players who play for FREE (and I don't care about a scholarship worth $150,000...the best of these guys are going to the NBA where the last I checked having a college degree means nothing...and then getting a job after the NBA is more likely based on your status as a former NBA player than a regular dude with a college degree...i mean come on now...) that the problem begins. Dude you pay a player whose worth MILLIONS of $$ for your school $100K, I would say that's a pretty good investment. This whole thing is a joke...
