There is a reason they do not have separate events for men and women. If the NBA could realistically force you to watch a WNBA game at halftime of the NBA game you tuned in to watch they would do it. Otherwise the ratings for the women's fights wouldn't be WNBA bad but it would be miniscule compared to a men's ufc card. Simple facts.

When I was a very young man...1980ish...I went to see my older cousin play division one college basketball on a nationally ranked team. I was pretty excited about it on the way as it was my first college basketball game in person. I had been watching men's college basketball for a couple of years and was excited to be a part of the packed coliseum and enthusiastic fan base. We arrived early and found our seats. We sat and watched the teams file in and begin the pregame shoot around. I began to wonder when the rest of the crowd would show up, but didn't say anything to my uncle who was there to support his daughter. The game started. I was confused that we were about midway up in half court seats when we could have easily been courtside. I finally decided i would ask my uncle why were there no fans?...why did a coliseum with a capacity of about 10k have maybe 150 people in it?...I did not ask him and just cheered on my cousin. I don't remember the score, but i remember riding back home a little confused, wondering...did i just watch a scrimmage? Years later when I finally made it to a couple of prime time, conference men's games, the sadness I felt remembering that event returned, but the confusion was cleared up as I "understood". My cousin was a great basketball player...I'll leave it at that.

Unless this hypothetical 16 year old is much heavier and stronger and faster than average, I just can't agree, and even then, no untrained people are ready for techniques like leg locks, which is an area of grappling that actually negates physicality quite a bit. If you've never trained with a high level female martial artist, I'd recommend it. It could be quite humbling for you.

He's absolutely right about womens' MMA. If the UFC wants a woman's fighting league then let it be separate from the men. Why do they clutter cards with female fights when before it was all men? Dana even said there'd never be womens' MMA in the UFC. Is it mixed so we all must pretend that women's MMA is as successful as mens' MMA? As Sean said, if it were separate nobody would watch it, so why are we all pretending womens' MMA is equal to mens' MMA? It's such bullshit.
@AMileHiii935 ай бұрын
This is where I disagree with Sean. WMMA is miles ahead of the WNBA in terms of entertainment value. Now is it as clean & technically sound as Men’s MMA? In most cases, no. But they make up for it with MAXIMUM effort & heart.

Name just two decent women’s fights?

Some of my favorite fights have been women in MMA. They don't have knock out power so it's usually a full match and an all out battle.

These women give it their all. Why minimize what they do.
@abi-gj8hb4 ай бұрын
Because he isn't thinking about how hard they work and how strong they are in comparison to OTHER WOMEN but comparing WOMEN TO MEN as usual. The value of anything women do has to be judged next to men by men. Like we get, men are usually stronger...OK? Mma isn't just about that, it's about who is stronger in the ring between the two women fighters.
