One neat detail I like is you can see Bradleys sword in his hands immediately after Ed does his false attack. There are quite a lot of small continuity details like that scattered everywhere.

The reason there are alchemists that do "one thing", is cause you need to know what stuff is made of to have any effect on it at all. Episode 2 is where the manga starts, so it's title is telling you this is where the story starts. Can't wait for you all to fall in love with FMAB like you have with ATLA. I personally can't choose a favorite between the two. They are both amazing for very different reasons.

One thing to note is that alchemy isn't magic or some kind of taboo, it's just science. Theoretically, anyone can do alchemy, the same way anyone can train to be a chemist or a doctor.

I think they glossed over a lot of things so it's not exactly like the fist Fullmetal alchemist, which followed the manga pretty closely at the beginning. I guess they also assumed a lot of people would've seen that fisrt version and it wasn't worth it to waste screentime repeating things that aren't absolutely essential to the plot.

Roy never promised him anything. He just said that the military could offer help in giving their bodies back. Is he trying to convince them to join yes. But he does think he's helping them too. No gaslight there

If you are looking to watch an anime movie to react I will suggest berserk the golden age. Those are 3 movies and it's a Seinen (anime for adults) with one of the best written histories of anime.

its not that ed and al want to fuck shit up...he even says he doesnt want to kill people in the previous episode. they just have this new resolve to correct their mistakes which resulted in some pretty traumatic events. Ed is just motivated to get the ball rolling for their personal goals. i doubt they have any sense of nationalism or personal duty/moral obligation to the military itself.

Take the start of this Reaction, you're giving spoilers away for Korra, a show that some of the big fans of FMA: B haven't seen, and might want to in the future. Maybe they're watching it for the first time right now? And it's not just here, it's pretty much all of the Reaction channels I've seen. Why do they ask the fans not to spoil them, but then go ahead and spoil other shows for them? It's pretty shitty, imo. Ok. The comparison with the avatar is very inaccurate. Sure, water is water. This is one thing. But you're talking about bending fire. But that's a mistake. Mustang not bending fire. He bending air. Mustang manipulates the amount of oxygen in the air using alchemy, and his gloves, when snapped, create a spark that sets the oxygen on fire. Mustang merely creates paths for the fire to follow. We also saw how Edward "absorbs" a piece of pavement, and then creates a metal baseball bat from it. So he's converting cement into metal. Alchemists do not control the four main elements, only the elements of the periodic table and the physical phenomena associated with them. The closest to this type of power would be another anime titled seikon no quaser. And btw. Its not magic. Its not dark arts. Its science.
