Thats some good stuff right there. In firearms training we call it "stress inoculation" Training the mind to ignore all else and focus. It matters.

Sean, I want to thank you for all the help and advice you give hunters, including myself. What really impacted me was at the end when you said to recite to yourself to 'Focus, focus, focus'. I believe that putting that into practice really helped lead to the first successful bowhunt I've had. All the adrenaline and cold would have made me mess up that shot if I hadn't taken the time to calm myself down. Thank you so much and God Bless you!

I'm bindge watching your videos. This, Lord willing, will be my first year bow hunting and I want to be prepared as possible. My pastor is meeting me tomorrow so I can't test out a couple of his bows. My rotator cuffs are messed up so I'm trying both left and right handed bows I Hope's to figure out witch will be most accurate. Thanks for sharing this info it's a BIG help. Also, imo, it's the best info on KZfaq. Thanks again.

ill be using these tips for sure. that grunt tip is great, only thing is when i do that tomorrow my Neighbour's will think iv gone insane lol. i have also been thinking of a way to help me be discrete and silent when i go to sneak up on my game, what i thought of was to start sneaking up on my dog with my bow (not drawn of corse) wile she is not facing me so i can train to be very silent. she is a beagle and has a very good hearing, it has been working good, have snuck up on her a few times without her knowing. next ill throw a bad of crunchy leaves down to make it more difficult. not sure if this is the best way to train my stealth but i can't think of anything else. great video mate, thanks for sharing👍

Around the southeast I have only met a few stalk hunters, MOST hunt from tree stands. your "stealth" training methods are a good idea... To keep your dog from noticing you, you have to be quiet, out of line of sight, and down wind from it. (hmmmnnn that sounds like how you have to get close to a deer :) ) As for the leaf idea... it is a good basic method... back in the 80s when wearing "black pajamas" and "ninja training" was so popular as a martial art, that was a common outdoor training method. Ye where taught to move the leaves SLOWLY with your toes before setting your foot down, but for indoor training they used crumbled paper at some of the dojo some of my friends went to. From what I understood of it, they used crumbled rice paper for that traditional ninja feel, but I would imagine any type of crisp paper would do.

Loved the video mate. As everyone else seems to be doing in the comments, I also want to personally thank you for the free information that you continuously provide for us. As a fellow vlogger, I know that there is a lot of behind the scenes work that people take for granted. Thanks for the awesome tips. Really like the concept of getting the heart rate up. Sometimes I jog between targets at my local range to mimic something similar. Thanks mate.

Very good advise. I especially liked your tips on shooting with the accelerated heart rate and settling down, and making a good shot after stopping the deer. I know I have been guilty of rushing the shot after mouth grunting to stop it. Something in my head is saying NOW, when in reality I know I have at least a few seconds to get focused on the shot. Great videos, I have watched several them after finding your channel. Keep em coming, and you have a sub from me!

I too have been hunting a long time, well over 40 years. It is my thought that the idea of practice is to simulate the actual event so as to do the best job you can when the event actually comes around. You can certainly can practice hitting where you aim at spots. No big deal there. If people are concerned about ruining arrows with errant shots perhaps they are pushing their limits. Bring it in a bit and get so you are not missing the target. If they really want they can put hay bales or other suitable backstops below the deer. My take is that if you keep aiming at the high spot on the deer you may do the same in an actual hunting condition because that is what you have practiced for. This is also the reason why people aim at the front of the deer and not the hindquarters. I went through the frustration of aiming exactly where you were shooting only to have my arrows go over the deer's back (several times). I had conditioned myself to shoot at that spot and paid the price when it counted. By shooting at the heart on a 3 D you should avoid what I went through. You have some great videos and I have enjoyed much of what you have had to say. It is also nice to see/hear a fellow Catholic talk about his Faith. It is quite rare these days. If you ever are in New Hampshire you are welcome here anytime. We don't have the numbers of deer that you have where you hunt but it is a pile of fun. God Bless

Another fantastic and helpful video, my friend. As you point out, you've got to practice like you want to play! I've put a lot of your tips into practice in the past two weeks. I'll update you once I take a nice deer using your tips. Do you continue hunting with a bow during the muzzleloader or firearms season? Do you ever take smaller game with your bow (when it's in season)? I could have easily taken a fox and/or ground hogs on Friday but decided not to since I didn't want to disturb any lurking deer.

Sean, Some very good tips, and Lord knows I need all the help I can get when hunting with my compound bow. In fact, I might switch to the crossbow instead this year. I am going to try and practice with the compound and using these tips so I can qualify for the Regional Water Company hunts where you have to put 5 shots in a 7 " pie plate at 20 Yds, from an elevated stand. The only question I have is how do you handle the first cold shot, having to pull the bow back after sitting in the cold for 4 - 5 hours? By the way every shot you made was in the kill zone! Amazing concentration and focus!
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
I keep my draw weight low enough that I can comfortably pull my bow even in freezing cold conditions after having sat still for hours. If you have trouble pulling in situations like that, maybe lower the poundage you are shooting, and that may help in those instances. I think you also said the key word, concentration. That is something you can train yourself on. Just focus on keeping your mind on what you are doing, and practice keeping your mind focused on it. It is actually a bit hard for me to keep my mind focused but I try to tune in the best I can during the shot.

Oh, yeah, sorry I was thinking of the HC model when responding. I think both are nice. I will be honest, when I shot the PSE this year, it surprised me in a positive way. It probably was a little faster than the bear, and it had a really solid back wall for a single cam. I am a student who is currently going to Penn State and who is looking for a place to practice in order to preform best in the woods when I come home (I live in New Jersey) on the weekends to hunt. I was wondering if the memberships ran a year starting the day you join or if it is from calendar year to calendar year. My concern is having to pay the membership fee twice in a few month span if that makes sense. I hope my wording wasn't too confusing and any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Have a nice day!

Their is a membership form on their website. You can fill it out and send it in with your membership dues and they will send you your membership key and card. You can also contact one of the offices, probably Dave Rothrock and he can walk you through the process. His information is on the website blackeaglebowmen.org. God bless ya.

Hi and thank you for info I shoot 60lbs 30" draw and 285 speed with 460 grain so can you tell me what is going to be my arrow speed and KE as well. Thanks
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
You will need to shoot through a chronograph to get the exact speed. Then you can calculate the KE using this formula --- Fps2 X Weight of Arrow / 450,240 = Arrow's Kinetic Energy.

When being a hunter but first time with a bow what should i set my sights at or have an idea using the range finder?
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
I set my sight at 20 yards for the first pin, 30 yards for the second pin, and 40 yards for the third pin etc... I use the range finder to check the yardage, and I like a range finder that also has angle correction for shooting out of a tree stand. Hope that helps.

I don't understand. At about the 5 minute mark you show aiming at and being pleased by a mid shot on the target. At that range shouldn't you be practicing/aiming low by the heart? The deer will surely squat at your shot. Thus practicing your shot that high on the deer will cause you to be conditioned for a lot of frustration in the woods with very high non vital hits or complete misses.

Thanks for checking out my videos. I appreciate it. I actually responded to your post years ago, but ALL of my replies were deleted when I transferred my channel to a branding account, www.seansoutdooradventures.com facebook.com/seansoutdoors/ instagram.com/seansoutdooradventures/ www.amazon.com/shop/seansoutdooradventures so I am going back through and replying to all old comments so they stop popping up in my unanswered post column on my KZfaq studio. I'll also included some links to my social media stuff in case you are interested in checking any of it out. Thanks for your patience with this process. God bless you.

Your question makes me realize I need to investigate some more range finders, lol. I don't currently have one that I know for sure will work in all conditions, although I am sure there are some out there and there will probably be people who will comment and recommend the one to you that they like. I just don't have one that I know will work for you. I think price range will have a little to do with it. Mine cost around $300. There are some that cost more and some less. Deciding your budget will play a part in what will work for you. If you are going to hunt out of a stand I would definitely get one with angle correction. Good luck out there and be dedicated. God bless you.

Hi dr I got a pse stinger x compound bow I don't know how to adjust draw weight please help me Thank you

Tighten it down as far as it will go to start and then turn each limb bolt the same exact number of turns. Check with the manufacturer to see what the max number of turns are for that bow and make sure you do not turn it more than that. I typically turn it one or two full turns and then check the difference and then just turn it one full turn at a time and check it each time till you get the weight you are looking for, making sure not to exceed the max number of turns allowable for that bow. God bless you.

Sean I just saw your video about not saved through faith. Since comments are disabled on there I’ll leave it here and be short. Tell me. What did the man on the cross next to Jesus do to be saved. Jesus said to him “today you will be with me in paradise”. He was not baptized and did not do any good works. I like you Sean but we will disagree on this just like the Catholics and Protestants do. God bless.

Thanks for the head's up. I didn't know comments were turned off on that. I will look into it and see if there is a setting I can change. As for your comment, it is sad that many well intentioned Christians like yourself misunderstand this passage. Before I answer you, I will ask you, did you know that "paradise" and heaven are not the same place and that Jesus didn't go to heaven until after the resurrection, which was several days later? This means that the person you are referring to did NOT go to heaven upon death. I'm assuming you didn't know that otherwise you wouldn't have asked me that question. I'll have to make a video on this whole topic so that people like you, who I am sure is a very well-intentioned Christian, will have the correct understanding of that event. This in turn well help you better realize that a good portion of your theology is actually incorrect and not what Jesus taught. Anyway, I will give you some helpful hints. Where did the souls of the righteous, like Abraham, go before Jesus opened the gates of heaven? Keep in mind that hell is the place for the eternally damned, there is no salvation for them. However, entrance into heaven was not possible either before Jesus rose from the dead so that we might be justified (He died for our sins, but he rose for our justification). So where did the souls of people go before Jesus rose from the dead, the people who died in a state of favor with God but couldn't enter heaven? And what was that placed called? I'll give you some more hints. Scripture calls this place by a number of different names, including prison, paradise, and the bosom of Abraham, yet this was not heaven. It was a place where the faithful went to await the time when Jesus had opened the kingdom of heaven. I'll leave it at that, and if you have trouble finding some of the answers, let me know. In the meantime, I will keep this topic in mind and try to make a video on it for you so that you can start to gravitate toward the truth that Jesus wants you to know and embrace. God bless you.
