This was the show I needed. I've been an avid watcher of SoT since the start of Covid. It's been a life saver, but now I find the larger panel shows tiresome. Solely Pete and Chris, nothing beats it. Incredible stuff indeed.

I think it was a regional midlands show- hopefully the BBC didn’t wipe the tape😂. By the way- Sabbath show idea- discussing the odds and sods of the later Sabbath catalogue- from Some Kind of Woman and Cloak and Dagger through to What’s The Use, the three added songs on the Dio years compilation and The End ep- some great material that people don’t talk about enough@@chrisalo2989

Hi it's Naomi Philipson from West Palm Beach FL. I'm the biggest black Sabbath fan on this beautiful planet called earth lol. It was 1981 in sunrise, Florida at the sunrise musical theater and it was Ozzy Osborne, Randy Rudy and Tommy. . I would have preferred seeing bob daisley and Lee kirslake. But it is What it is. I remember Def leopard opened for them they were like little kids at the time. I stayed outside and waited a long time, but Ozzy Osborne came out of the taxicab. With Sharon, they weren't even married yet. And I got to speak to ozzy he was a true gentleman. A true rock star he's the love of my life. I live right down the street from the sunrise Musical theatre in 1987 black sabbath played there with ronnie james dio and the dehumanizer tour. As I drove home, I decided to pass by the parking lot and I heard them doing a practice warm up. I pulled in the parking lot and Ronnie James Dio Was there all alone and we got the chat together what a lovely person. I told him I lived right up to street. And I'm going to bring some records and poster to sign he said come back. When I came back in the parking lot there was Tony Gezzer and Ronnie's together just hanging out smoking a cigarette. They were so kind to sign my black Sabbath records. Ronnie was a little reluctant to sign his name over the album Cover from Technical Estasy because Ozzy was on. I said Ronnie sign your name and I was laughing. I said I love you sign your name and he signed it. They all signed it. I really enjoyed your show about Black Sabbath. Peace and Love. Black Sabbath brought me joy in life. In 1978 I saw the never say die tour at Hollywood sport auditorium in Florida van halen opened up for black sabbath.

Great show @chrisalo @seaoftranquility - too funny, I've been meaning to reach out to Pete to see if there is a "no bootleg discussion" rule on SoA. I've only been watching/listening for a few years, but don't recall anyone ever mentioning bootleg recordings during the various episodes other than Professor Ken and his "grey market" CDs. Glad to know I was mistaken. Hope to see more of these discussions - would be great on The Prog Seat show.

Thanks for the info on the leggy-boots. I would like to see an Official Bootleg Series (e.g Cherry Red Records-Glenn Hughes) where the artist concerned may get some money back. As you mentioned though fans can pre-listen to these featured shows and take it or leave it. I would to hear a better audio of ‘Eighth Star’… Cozy Powell’s archives were certainly a turn up. Keep up the good work fellas. How did the new tracks on Black Sabbath The Dio Years,get “under the wire”? Great tracks which set us up for ‘The Devil You Know’ by Heaven & Hell.How about asking Joe Siegler from Black Sabbath Online on the show? Chris is fantastic too.. Joe appeared on a Deep Purple Podcast Show and was informative and humorous.

Love it, guys! Great show all about my all time favourite band. One thought I've had for quite a while now is that as time has went on, to me at least, it's become quite apparent that Dio was a better fit for Sabbath as a band (and particularly Iommi) than Ozzy ever was. The work of the original lineup will always be my personal favourite, but when you listen to how particularly Dio and Iommi both got heavier and doomier in their work over time and how Ozzy almost immediately after leaving (and still to this day) distanced himself from the Sabbath/Heavy Metal sound both musically and very openly, it just makes so much more sense that Dio was the perfect fit for the band. I think adding to this when you listen/read to what both Iommi and Geezer have said about their time with Dio that they truly loved it and how highly they rate those albums and how the Heaven & Hell reunion was so good and everything went so smooth. I think the guys themselves genuinely feel that if we hadn't have lost Dio they would've continued on doing so much more work with him and built a legacy around the Heaven & Hell band. Maybe not enough for a full topic discussion, but something I would now consider as my "hot take" on the band: that Dio actually always was a better fit for Black Sabbath than Ozzy. Maybe you guys could do a "hot take/controversial opinion" video about maybe songs, albums, etc. that you like/don't like. Would like to possibly see the idea of "missed opportunities" with Black Sabbath. Like how they didn't take the chance to do a new album after the 97 reunion or not taking the opportunity to work with different members or not getting Bill to at least do the studio work on 13 or simply not putting out a live album at their peak. I'd also be interested to hear what you guys think about Iommi's lack of musical releases, particularly given that his recent appearance on a TV documentary here in the UK ("Greatest Guitar Riffs" on Sky Arts). In the show Iommi (with best bud Brian May) highlights again how he just has all these riffs that he records lying around not being used for anything. He then actually plays a recording of one...except it's not just a riff, it's actually a proper song! The only thing we don't get to hear is if vocals were ever put to it. Why does this man, who is so immensely talented just not bother to release any of this? It's not like he's one of these guys who's not bothered about making music anymore, the fact he writes and records these full songs in his spare time shows how much he just loves doing it, but he just doesn't want to do anything with them for some reason. I'm a little surprised neither of them mentioned the Black 'N Blue bootleg video you can find here and there. I found it on DVD a few years ago from a website specializing in hard to find concerts. Has either Pete or Chris seen it?

Folks - what I learned year's ago is when it comes to collecting boots (and I've been doing it since late 1979 - early 1980) you MUST pay attention to the dates of the show....otherwise you'll buy doubles.....so be careful folks! IN FACT - here is what I've done - I've now made a list of my favorite bands that I have LIVE LEGAL and bootleg recordings of - with ALL the dates and places. I take this list with me when I go to record shows or shops so I don't accidently RE-BUY the same damn show. Beware - there are old bootlegs of now LEGALLY re-leased shows. At the time the boot was made - the show had probably NOT been legally released....now it has been. Unfortunately, I bought the boot after I already owned the legally re-leased recording! (it was a Bowie boot) I learned my lesson then and MADE my list. The good news to that story, is the sound quality of the boot...for whatever reason, IS actually better than the legal release (yeah...so go figure). No doubt boot-buying IS an adventure....it can be agitating but FOR THE MOST PART - IS USUALLY MOST OFTEN SATISFYING. Ever been to a concert, and the concert is absolutely fantastic.... and you say to the person you're with - "Man...I hope someone is booting this show." ? Just a question for the audience out there....

@@steve-0493 Been going to shows since 1980. Finally, finally, finally after all those years, Blue Oyster Cult came to the MGM Rocksino in Northfield and recorded a live album. After all these years, I am FINALLY on an album in the crowd. I've watched the DVD, they never show I or my wife when they pan the crowd. Great show by the way....

What is the version of Born Again that Pete mentioned has a live show with them playing Disturbing the Priest and Born Again?!
@chrisalo2989
@chrisalo2989 7 ай бұрын
There was a 2CD Deluxe Edition release for Born Again in 2011. Disc 2 features "The Fallen", an extended "Stonehenge" and a 9 track live set from The Reading Festival in 1983. In double checking the track listing though, it doesn't have "Disturbing The Priest" or "Born Again".

Born Again was played at the Reading Festival...it appears I've heard it from other sources, as it's not on the deluxe edition like I thought.

@@seaoftranquilityprog Yep, both "Born Again" and "Disturing The Priest" were defintely played at the Reading Fest in 83. I guess they just weren't on this version. Hopefully when we get that Born Again box set we might get the whole show.

@SeaOfTranquility Pete, is there ANY recording on cd, album, or tape, of A National Acrobat??? That's my favorite song, & I've tried to find ANYTHING live that has it for YEARS, to my great frustration. I KNOW that they actually did play it live, at least a few times. I cannot find the damn thing ANYWHERE. 😢 Thanks...

@seaoftranquilityprog Thanks for responding, Pete. I would be interested to know if Chris has ever seen it. It seriously confounds me. I enjoy the KZfaq vid, for what it is. But, you'd think it'd be on SOME type of bootleg, if it is on KZfaq. 🤷

There was a bootlegger in the 70's known as "Mike the Mike" who went to concerts in a wheelchair, faking a handicap and hiding the recording equipment in the wheelchair. I have a Zeppelin show from '77 at the LA Forum and it sounds pretty good. I've bought most of my bootlegs at record conventions.

Great episode, but I'm surprised neither Pete nor Chris have the Sabbath bootleg Long Beach Arena 1975 (Mike Millard Master Cassettes). Mike the Mic is a legendary concert taper that's notorious for how he snuck his recording equipment into shows and the high quality of his work. Many of his master tapes were discovered a few years back and are available on Japanese bootlegs. A profile on Mike, and other legendary concert tapers who did high quality recordings, would make for a good SOT episode.
