Great point about the slime. Even "The Green Slime" doesn't have slime! (BTW Green Slime is AWESOME - Japanese made. Italian styled. Italian Acted - bunches of fun!) I don't know if this falls in "Monster's den" territory, but there are SO MANY "Road Warrior" Rip-offs that are a hoot! You could do HOURS on that topic!

Another highly enjoyable episode of The Monster's Den. The discussion between Chris and Jamie about what they liked or disliked and why was entertaining to watch. Agree with the hate to be bored approach Chris uses with his movie rules. Recently watched Tammy and The T Rex based on an earlier discussion by Chris. Shakespeare it is not. But Shakespeare doensn't make me laugh that hard either. So definitely going to track down some of the titles discussed for watching. Thanks, guys, for always putting on a fun show and committing your time to these episodes.

This was awesome. I know that a show is going to be gold when you have Pete, Chris, and Jamie involved. Galaxy of Terror is one that I remember. I was on a tour of Europe in the summer of 1982 - and saw the posters for the film in London and Paris. I wanted to see it then but didn't till later on VHS. It was definitely a rip-off of Alien.

Another great video. I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention Xtro which was a bit of an Alien rip off, as well as Deep Star Six or the better of the underwater Alien knock off Leviathan. When Chris mentioned the alien bursting through the face I automatically thought of Parasite that starred Demi Moore. I’m also surprised Species wasn’t mentioned which the female alien was designed by Giger.

Sigourney Weaver is quite tall and slim - she's about 6 foot or 6'1", so I guess more of what they call an "athletic build" for a woman. A picture recently surfaced of her at a Beatles concert when she was a teenager, and honestly she hadn't changed much. She has a great, sarcastic, dark sense of humour as well, and is quite funny, so certain things make up for a woman not having your traditional curvy type body. Good show guys!

Might be a good idea to buy a DVD player while you can. I been looking for CD players and have been finding cheaply made players and players that are two thousand dollars or more. My old turntable finally gave out and have been looking for a replacement, and all I can find are Chinese manufactured turntables that are cheaply made and some that are two thousand dollars or more. Here's an honorable mention - The Intruder Within (1981) - set on some kind of offshore drilling rig, they bring up some eggs from the bottom of the sea, and something hatches out and the usual shenanigans ensue. I've only seen it once, in the late 80s. It might be a tv movie. Not sure to be honest as this was a long time ago, and I watched it on VHS but can't say if it was a genuine release or some kind of bootleg. I don't remember it being particularly good, but it was still WAY better than Inseminoid :)

As modest and humble as Cronenberg is, even he has stated how Alien ripped off his movie that came out 4 years before. Alien also ripped off David Cronenberg's "Rabbid" (1976) too.

58:10 That's wrong. Completely wrong. There wouldn't be a disc to begin with if this were true. Looking at the 4K scan on a Blu-ray disc, you aren't handling a VHS tape, are you? No. A 4K scan is just a speed at which the reels go through the machine to scan the images. The higher the number, the slower the process, the more detail of the picture can be shown on any kind of disc. These discs have a different amount of data in which they can store the movie. When they do this scan, they downscale it into a 1080p disc, but it still gives so much more detail than a 2K scan, which is fed through the machine at a faster rate which detail is quite good, but not as good as that 4K, slower, scan. Most 1080p discs have a regular scan of the footage from the film reel. If there's a restoration, a remaster, they can rescan the film. If it's a 2K scan, it's slightly higher in resolution than the regular 1080p. They downscale that to 1080p, however, the detail is better than the original scan. So, too, is a 4K scan. I don't think Chris understands the quality differences here. A 2160 pixel resolution is better than a 1080 pixel resolution no matter which disc you place it on. Detail is pushed up considerably. 4K UHD basically the new disc, which has a different amount of data. They can copy the entire 2160p, the P being pixels, without having to downscale it, which makes for a much better picture than a 2K scan, basically 1080 pixels. The 4K UHD is the difference when it comes to the data space, but no the only difference. The space is much bigger than the regular Blu-ray disc, but if it's simply placed on the Blu-ray without the UHD, it still looks much better than it would have if they hadn't. So, it is most definitely not like taking a CD and placing it on a cassette.

I wasn't heated. I was explaining the process and what it actually means. You're projecting your own thoughts and imagination into what I typed if you think I am angry. My intention was to let them know they are wrong.

@@LanceLust1980HugeTheWarningFan . That is exactly what we as a country have become; so it is how I feel towards 🇺🇸 in general; however the Chinese communist flag is because they pretty much own Us at the present time. The white one which follows represents the fact of Us surrendering to this fascist regime obviously 🙄 so. not so much political as it happens to be 100% true. Pay attention to the things inside of these people teaching your children are trying to fill their hands with I.e; drag pageants and some of their own lifestyle choices and how they’re pushed it on our kids going on right now and why they’re getting away with it. How come the gov’t isn’t saying anything about that sick behavior pushed in our children’s minds as young as 8 years old as I write ✍️? Yeah, that’s what’s going on. INSEMINOID is bad but it doesn't come close to the awfulness of STAR CRYSTAL. Almost nothing does. It's one of the worst sci-movies ever.
