A father hours away in Portland called me asking if I could try to find his stranded son. His son went out to play in the snow in his Jeep, but found himself on a closed section of road, stuck, and running out of gas. The father had a tracking app on his son's phone, but due to the poor service in the area, it wouldn't pinpoint his location. Luckily it did show how he got into the area he was in, so I started there and made my along his tire tracks until I found him 18 miles later.

And this is why I donate to you every month thru Patreon! It's like a jigsaw puzzle that God pieced together perfectly - I bet that young man realized the seriousness of his situation and probably came to the point of doing the "God Help" thing. A great dad stepped in (imagine if he had a crappy dad) and eventually your years of experience allowed your skills to be used by the Man Upstairs to rescue a desperate and probably scared kid. So the story made a great KZfaq video instead of making a tragic news story on the TV. If that doesn't deserve a thumbs up I don't know what does 👍👍👍👍👍

It's amazing what a properly working fuel pump will do for a vehicle I've never under stood why dodge Chrysler jeep did away will frame mounted fuel filters when changing the fuel filters on a regular basis the fuel pumps last a lot longer. Great tracking job Casey and for sure them cheap winches don't last long but that's what everybody had said about my harbor freight 12,000 lb winch a little over 9 years ago. I bet the young man was happy to see you and hopefully he learned something from this. God bless you Casey and as always be safe 👍

Good job man. When I was a cop, in the city, we didn't have too many search and rescues except pulling bodies out of the mississippi and in the couple large parks we had.. There was always that feeling of dread when a call came out, especially for a child. I always got real laser focused and aggressive for some reason. Until they were found. Nothing to me mattered, not my car, gear, even safety. Glad I left that field.

When thinking about the dangers of traveling on closed or low-use roads in the winter, I always think back to the Kim family, who unwisely, blindly followed navigation software into the Oregon Coast Range in December, 2006. No one knew their route. No one had any idea where they were. Sadly, the father attempted to trek out on foot to get help and died in the snow. Miraculously the mother and children were rescued.

I went on a backpack trip with my friend right after high school. His first trip my possibly 100th trip. He crossed the river and turned left on the road instead of waiting for me to catch up. It was the road out and a few people around. No one saw him so I retraced our hike until I saw his boot print and followed it up the road of course he should have turned right at the road to get back to ranger station. I walked a mile after him and he came jogging double time back only after he reached the end of the road. Glad for your tracking skills
