Күн бұрынSearch for Tomorrow, an American television soap opera, began its run on CBS on September 3, 1951, and concluded on NBC, 35 years later, on December 26, 1986. In this 1953 episode Joann (Mary Stuart) asks if Wilber (Don Knotts) will ever wake up from his coma and be normal again. Interesting special effects in the nightmare dream sequence. This is of course a "live" show. Wilber's face was filmed before the show, tossing and turning. When airing the show "live" they ran the film, and superimposed the "live" Don Knott scenes during the broadcast to get the dream effect, since he couldn't be in two places at once. Pretty neat special effects for 1953. Transferred from a 16mm b-w kinescope film. From our home video release MC-284 SOAPERS Vol. #3 1953-1960

Thank you so much for sharing this bodacious "blast from the past" with us ! Had no idea Don Knotts had appeared in this 50s TV soap opera till reading about it recently in his daughter Karen's book about her dad.

On next week’s episode, Wilbur finally opens the door in his trance-like state where he finds himself in a town called Mayberry. There, he’s a deputy going by the name of Barney Fife. Will Wilbur ever wake up from this dream?

3:09--Without the availability of videotape, the producers must have used an acting double in the dream sequence superimposed over Knotts in bed. Notice that the double never faces the camera.

Any idea how to find the 11/22/63 episode? In the Mountain time zone this was interrupted for the first bulletins about JFK being shot-I think.
