Mr. Richards should have won the cinematography Oscar. While Mank's B&W look is nice (modern black and white films are fascinating), the natural look here is astounding. While watching this movie on Hulu on my 50 inch screen I even said, "I wish I could have seen this on a big screen." I thought it with Mank, but I said it out loud while watching Nomadland.

I know right? His style in cinematography was so good it felt like he was inspired by Roger Deakins’s work. He is like the next Roger Deakins in modern times! Also, did anybody notice there was “Avengers” Easter egg in this movie? It’s right when Fern walks past a theater.

The cinematography of this film is surreal! It oddly felt something like in between a documentary and a movie, in other words it felt very real!

And the Oscar for BEST PICTURE went to Nomadland and the Oscar for BEST ACTRESS went to Frances McDormand. 2021

A pity it didn't win for cinematography (Mank was terrific, but Nomadland was for me the best cinematic experience of last year).

Disappointing Nomadland lost Cinematography to Mank
