Sears Craftsman High Performance Vintage Chainsaw! (but first we have to get it running)

Join me on my quest to get this Free Sears 3.7 Craftsman (made by Roper) Old Chainsaw running. Started working on it and realized it says "High Performance " on it....let's see if there's any truth to that. Saw had no spark and a fuel delivery problem as well, but we found a hidden Decompression valve and some other cool features that surprised me! Sears actually sold a Quality product back in the day....we'll get her running and cutting again and you be the judge

Changing the duck bill in the gas tank shure fun lol behind the fly wheel got take that little cover off by the fuel screws

Cool old saw. Vacuum powered headlight covers were cool on 67 cougars and rs camaros- loved it when they got 5 years old and only one cover would operate.

I was the same way thought mine was junk but after working on it the saws were way ahead of there time iv cut a trailer load of locust now that some hard wood it done great

It’s so hard to find those with a good air cleaner cover. I have one that I need a cover for. I only picked it up because it has a roller nose bar

I had mine apart I re sealed the tank laped both halves used seal all it work great

Dan, I really dig that con-rod tat on your right hand! I’ve never seen anything like that. It’s just so…FRIGGEN AWESOME 😉🫡 That self sharpening system required a “Barracuda” chain. At one time, Oregon sold them. But I’ve not seen that chain in years in their catalog.

There also a duck bill in the middle oil line going to the tank if that goes bad tge saw will smoke horrible that line goes to the crank case by the reeds mine got the power sharp I will never use bad way to sharpen one think takes a certain chain for them

Just like my blue one I zapped mine with a battery charger on 2amp it fires good now iv fixed a bunch of saws like that

I’m just getting into old chainsaws and they seem to be really fun I got my first one a couple months ago and it is a poulan 361 do you know anything about those saws I can’t find to much info about them.

@@KainKustomGarageIt’s because they are fuel hogs, the carbs have tons of gas in them when you pull to start. My old 031 does the same thing.
