Largely true except Eren honestly didn't care that much about the sea in particular. That was more of an Armin thing. It's kinda what got him thinking about freedom outside the walls to begin with, but I wouldn't say he saw it as the epitome of freedom, it's just what opened his mind to the possibilities. Even earlier this season, he mentioned to Levi that he'd pretty much forgotten about that goal, but Armin never forgot.

@@schmuck.on.wheels You’re right, I could’ve worded that a little better. Exactly like you said, Eren’s interest was definitely never in the ocean itself. His insistence on seeing it more so comes from a place of indignation and pride. He is aware of the possibility that the sea might exist and he is incredibly defiant and resentful of the fact that he doesn’t have, more importantly that he is not being allowed, the freedom to see it and confirm that for himself. He doesn’t actually appreciate or care about the beauty it possesses or the opportunities it suggests the way Armin does. That’s the principle reason why he was so disappointed seeing it. The picturesque view of the sea was in no way disappointing but just the sole realization that true emancipation is still far from his reach, was more than enough to completely mar the beauty of it. In the end, what I personally believe is the fundamental difference between Armin and Eren is that Armin dreams of seeing the ocean whereas Eren *insists* on seeing it. Despite the similar goal, there still remains an inherent difference between the root of these two motives, and is what eventually leads to a glaringly, stark contrast in their ideologies and methods of pursuit.

I’m so sick of hearing this, whether it’s serious or just a joke. To refer to Season 4 as “the actual story” is such an insult to everything that came before. All 4 seasons, all 94 episodes, are all part of the complete, “actual” Attack on Titan story. You would never get the same experience watching only Season 4, in fact you’d be pretty confused. That’s cause it’s the ending of a story, not the beginning of one.

Everything before season 4 is a pure masterpiece, but after knowing most of the secrets, you could watch for the themes and not worry so much about "oh, I wonder what's the next reveal, or I wonder what this means?" But again, it's mostly a joke.

I have the same opinion, the first 3 seasons are just laying the foundation for season 4, the story is so much deeper and more complex than anybody would have guessed
