fun fact: Kana and Ai both were given the same animation basically during their performance. When Kana winked for example. That's just one instance tho. They really went in on the kana and ai comparison here. Plus Kana name dropped the anime when she said "I will be your favorite idol" Oshi no ko

Read "Arima" in japanese alphabet, hiragana, using "syllables for us: "A-ri-ma" Now read backwards: "Ma-Ri-A" Now hear in IDOL song, the anime opening by Yoasobi. The last verse before the chorus talks about Aqua, Ruby... And ends with "Watashi wa Maria" which translates as: "I am Maria" A-ri-ma = ma-ri-A

Regarding Kana's insecurities, the problem is that she assess her self-worth not based on how skillful she might be, but on well she can sell. She truly is incredibly talented to be able to diversify her career as she did over the years and be pretty damn good at it all. But. You could be the most talented person in the world, but if you can't sell, does it really matter? Technically, yes, but when you fail over and over as she did, the feedback she is getting from the world is, "however skilled you may be, it is still not good enough to overcome the hurdles in your path." It's hard to maintain a sense of self-worth when that's how you are perceived. To add to that, the people close to her in her life that she relied on all left her on her own, so that reinforced the idea that "no one cares" in her inner circle, too. I get that it can be grating to hear how down on herself she is, but honestly, it would be pretty damn impressive if you could come out the other side of what Kana's been through and still have your head held high. And after all, it's not like she's saying all of this aloud, this is just her internal self-talk. If it's grating for us to hear as an audience, imagine what it'd be like to be the one feeling it and believing it?

When it comes to drawing in an audience by being a KZfaqr, you have to remember how small Japan is, geographically. Going across the country to see a live performance is a lot here in the U.S but Japan is roughly the same size as California. Maybe a little smaller. Edit: There are also full versions of the songs they performed.
