Hi Dan!!😀😀 Glad to see that it was probably the unseasonably warm weather we had that choked the pipe up Instead of a pinhole leak. It definitely burnt itself clean after you cleared the blockage. Take care buddy!!😀😀💚💚 Logger Al

I agree, that chimney looks nice. But I still stand behind what I said, the insulation in the front underneath that rod has to be coated with creosote. Obviously, if the creosote was oozing out. You may get lucky and never have a problem. The insulation around the door and the insulation around the chimney are the two hottest insulation to wood boiler contact surfaces. Both areas don’t have a buffer of hot water under the insulation. Take my observations for what it’s worth. I have repaired many boilers over the years and have also manufactured them at my commercial welding shop in upstate New York. And in true transparency, my own boiler caught fire under the roof. It wasn’t a design issue of ours, it was my own operator error. I can tell you from my experience it was not fun in the dark, trying to unscrew the tin to get to creosote fire underneath. It was one heckuva fire and something I don’t want to experience again. In a nutshell, I had a bad burn, just like you. The Creosote had unknowingly ran down the outside of the chimney and entered under the roof around a deteriorating seal around the chimney. The rest is history.

Glad to see that the stack had cleaned itself. Must have been the mild weather that didn't allow the boiler to fully cycle 🤷

I haven't used my pellet stove in over a week now. But just like you, I need to clean it out as well so I can just flip the switch in the fall.

You turned off your outdoor wood boiler. For the season?

Any build up on the back side that you had before, and you had to chip and rod out in the fall?

Dan, I Shut my Woodstove also yesterday. I will be doing the Pipe Cleaning very Shortly along with the Chimney. Talk about Ticks I got Bit by One and now have Lyme. I can not Win at All. They are all over around here. I treated my Steel Toed Boots with Permethrin, so they do not have a Chance to Crawl up on me. It's not going to keep me in these lousy things. I can only work outside an Hour or so every other day but it's at least Something. Becareful out there my Friend, see you at the next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

Ohh my that's not good on the tick bite and Lymes...they are nasty! I always find them on my upper body, arms, neck, shoulders....it's like they fall out of the trees or something...they need to invent a genetically engineered tick that infects all the other ticks and gets rid of them...lol

Ron, I’m in upstate ny also. Mayfield - near gloversville. The ticks are horrible. I had one in me last year for I think, over a month. I still get pimples in my 50’s so I didn’t think much of it. It was on my back where you couldn’t see it without two mirrors. When It didn’t go away My better half checked, and she was surprised to find a monster of a tick. I haven’t been tested, but I don’t feel so great since this happened. From what I understand, there’s not much that can be done anyway. I recently watched a video here on KZfaq. I think it might’ve been on. JRE. Anyway, it was an interview with a biologist and they claimed Lyme disease was released from a research lab in upstate New York. I can’t remember exactly where. I half listened to it, I was busy at the time. Try and find the video again. I am not a conspiracy guy, but nothing surprises me anymore.

Just curious, why don't you use a rain cap?
@Back40Firewood20 күн бұрын
I tried one before and it just plugged up with the build up of creosote, I hardly ever see outdoor wood boilers with them on.

Now that you're boiler is down does the hot water tank just go back to its normal setup off and on with gas or electric
@Back40Firewood19 күн бұрын
Yep, water heater is back to electric.

Nice video, ticks suck! Also you should have showed people the emptying and refilling with fresh water, adding chemical, and also changing the rope and motor cover. All that should be done e at the end of the year.
@Back40Firewood20 күн бұрын
I've never drained the water...only add/top it off when starting it up in the Fall. I add treatment but only every other year. My dealer told me don't ever completely drain the water out, it exposes the entire inside of the water jacket to oxygen and will lead to rust. Changing the rope only really needs to be done when needed, not every year.

You need to treat your deer for ticks or get yourself some chickens.
@Back40Firewood20 күн бұрын
Ha...I was hoping with all the deer the ticks would bother them and leave me alone...guess not...lol
