The Dissection worship in this song is strong. Especially that melodic riffs towards 5:32.

If I remember correctly, this song is explicitly presented by the band as a homage to Jon Nödtveidt and at least partially composed by Set Teitan, former Dissection live guitarist

Keep in mind I am not a huge Black Metal fan but..... That riff at 2:53 has got to be one of the grooviest, crunchiest, most headbang-inducing riffs of Black Metal.

Can't quite put words on what makes Watain along with Dissection so powerful bands. Maybe it's the strong spiritual commitment in their music.

Best Watain album. I saw this tour in 2008. I don't even remember who the opening bands were. Before Watain came on stage out rolled the stench of death. A full quarter of the audience fled. Girls were vomiting. Rotture PDX the stage is about 4 inches tall. There was about 150 extremely happy Watain fans. Anybody who was there will tell you that there was that dark something in the room. These guys were playing to thousands globally and we got them at Rotture. During PDX golden age of BM and DooM... now PDX is a dead issue. Flatlined. PDX Rest.In.Piss

You know, every time I hear people crowing about Watain, I give them another shot and am reminded of the fact that they are just bog standard black metal using ideas other bands have done far better. I'll never understand how they got so popular.
