I'm on my 3rd Seat and I love them as they're very reliable you get more bang for your buck I think they look better than there rivals and they're also not as common on the road! Great review again Rebecca! 👍

Its far more intuitive than you think and soon get where you can do it without looking, and also can do it by voice. I actually have one.

Good and fair review of a really good car. The heating and ventilation controls being buried in the infotainment screen is very distracting on the move though. Dials, knobs and buttons are safer and easier to use.

Ordered an FR Sport 150 petrol. Looked at a golf 8 r line and one of these and much preferred the Leon. Had alot more kit as standard too. Love the rear lights too!

Thanks for the review Rebecca. TBH I love the New Seat Leon. Especially the versions that have the scrolling lights and welcome lights. It may not have the Golf's prestige but I think the exterior styling looks better than the Golf. In fact I wish I could own one, but Seat doesn't have a dealership or support in my country and it does not look like we will see one soon either.

I bought a new León back in March 2020. It's a third generation so I got a very good deal on the price as they had just announced that the fourth generation would be coming out soon and they were keen to shift all the "old" models. I tried just about all the models in the class (Golf, Focus, Astra and Giulietta) and tried all three gasoline versions of the León. I found the 1.0 litre version a bit underpowered and the 150 bhp FR version expensive to buy and insure so ended up with the 130 bhp 1.5 litre version. It's definitely sportier than the Golf and at 15,800€ with 5 years warranty and 5 years free servicing it was a real bargain. I haven't tried to fourth generation León, but from what I've seen and heard, the performance is pretty similar to mine.

Would you show us what the lights in front and rear look like at night? Only seen the higher level „Full LEDs“ until now.

I've got the estate 1.5 128 (No longer available, only 1.0) 2022 ES Dynamic version as shown, with armrest as standard. It does the job very well. I haven't taken it on a long run yet however I'm averaging about 45-46 mpg in town and 55 mpg on the motorway.

Afternoon.. Have just purchased the SE Dynamic 2020 Model, drives really well so far from when i have drove it. Lot of tech on the main screen so working my way through that SLOWLY, not been able to find many video links to actually see it that way. I have the lights set on Auto but am strugging to find out how to operate the coming home lights. Any tips welcome on that or any of the other features on the car. Thanks Ian Stay Safe

Actually you couldn't have tested a lower trim level, so if you compare it to the lower trim level of the Golf, you might not find posher the Golf as expected. Also the variable boor floor is an option for the Leon.

Always nice to hear and see our lovely Rebecca. another spot on review. however, it looks like they just bought an older hyundai/ kia and copied the styling. 🤣🙄

Same as it's always been really. Leon has slightly lower quality interior than golf but is also considerably cheaper. As mark 3 Leon ST owner I looked at golf estates but used you can pick up a Leon 1 or 2 years newer or better spec for the same price. So I've always gone for the seat. Although a bit cheaper inside in places the construction still feels solid. Weirdly my current Leon 2017 SE is really quiet in terms of road noise. My previous 2014 FR was not. So the smaller wheels and standard suspension are much quieter. I do like the new interior. But not the silly touch screen climate control and volume switches.

VAG purposely design Seat and Skoda to be "less" than the VW equivalent . It's just the way the group works. They are all very good cars, just a bit different.

I think badge snobs will always go with Audi or Volkswagen. I’ve had all 3 A3, Golf & Leon with my last 2 cars have been MK 3 & 3.5 Leon’s with my current being a Cupra. Personally I’d take my Seat’s over the equivalent gen Audi A3 & VW Golf all day long. Though I may have to reconsider on my new car as I think the current A3 styling leaves Seat behind this time. Shame Seat played styling safe this time the MK3 Leon styling was a gamble that payed off massively for SEAT, it made both the A3 & Golf look outdated imo.

@@disarchitected Badge snobbery does exist & it is most definitely a thing. You are confusing what I said as a blanket statement. Obviously this does not apply to everyone. Cars today it’s like splitting hairs over quality. The materials used in today’s cars are often generic. For instance VW , Audi Seat , Porsche, Skoda they all share parts & materials.

Could someone help please, I have the new seat Leon fr and there is no option to change the colour of the background lighting for the interior of the car? One of the reasons I brought the vehicle and the feature doesn’t seem to work? Thanks

Thats an interior-add you need to spec the car with: "LED interior Smart Wrap around ambient light" and are extra cost

Same here, I wanted to order the wraparound lighting pack but that would of been a long order, and I needed it for 1st September, its annoying as the option is in the menu but the only colour is red. What is more annoying is the FR sport gets it as standard, but I didn't have that option to order. Thankfully mine is desire red so it matches

Much prefer the striking previous gen both interior and exterior (the light bar is the 2020 of sweeping indicators - massive t*** f***ery). I'll have the Ford with the forward thinking ingenious method of safely changing temp and radio station, dials! They should be legal requirements not buried under the child you've just run over

Excellent review packed with all the relevant pieces of info. I've always been a bit of a SEAT Leon fan boy, I still drive the very first 2002 Leon Cupra R. However, this time around I'm not a big fan of the new Leon. I had the chance to see it last week at the dealership and didn't like the front end nor the side view. The rear end looked good. Overall disappointed with this new design language, it's not for me. There was a Cupra Formentor sitting next to the Leon, it looked 10 times better to me.

The Leon is certainly better looking than the Golf as the front end doesn't look like it's been crushed by a bus. However, the road noise picked up on Rebecca's mic sounded awful.

If it's like the mark 3 road noise will vary a lot depending on the version. I started with an early 1.2tsi SE technology hatch and that was fairly quiet. Had 15 inch wheels. Then upgraded to a Leon ST 1.4tsi FR with the sports suspension and 17 Inch wheels. That was a lot louder especially on coarse surfaces. The engine was sweet though and quiet. Now I have a 1.6tdi SE Leon ST mark 3 facelift with 16 inch wheels and all season tyres and there is very little road noise. With a diesel engine I'd ideally like more road noise to mask the drone of the engine a bit. Choosing again I'd go petrol as not that much in it economy wise and the petrol is more civilised. I much prefer the standard suspension set up though to the sports set up. Actually feel more confident cornering as no mid corner kickback

An almost impossible choice...... so I would choose........ The skoda octavia. Roomier, than the Leon, as well built as the golf and cheaper than both

I would argue the Skoda actually has the best interior of the 3 too. It is considerably larger so harder to fit into parking bays or short drives. The bigger size (even compared to a Leon ST) is the main reason I opted for the (previous generation) seat.

Easily the worst car I've ever owned. A lack of physical buttons makes operating headlight / fog lights dangerous. The less said about the touchscreen, the better. Unreliable, constantly going wrong and faults described by the manufacture as "Charicaristic Design Feature." Good looking car, FR Spec was good and looks far better than the current Golf. There was a lot to like, but there's no point having good looks if it's back and forth to the dealer every 3 or 4 months for another fault with the screen. Screen is also more complicated than necessary to use. Great fuel economy (regularly 70mph) however far too many trips to the dealer with it.
