I always love to see a metal drummer who isn't all speed and blast beats. He can obviously pull that stuff off, but he also understands feel and groove.

...and his excellent use of dynamics man. He can blast with the finesse of a jazz drummer. I'm sick and tired of hearing drums that sound like they've been written on Guitar Pro. Sebastian's drumming feels alive.

He isn't, but I know what you mean. His shit is so memorable and unique, particularly his fills and kick patterns. The guy who definitely showed up in metal out of nowhere and went to the highest tier in the shortest amount of time for sure.

The creativity from Lanser spills forth. His incorporation of those accelerating patterns (like the kick drum 3:03 - 3:06) is amazing.

What a phenomenal player and musician he is! Phrasing in all subdivisions is a piece of cake for him...as well as amazing speed and control. He never ceases to amaze me 🙌♥️

Sebastian is in the upper echelon of most diverse & musical drummers to EVER touch the extreme metal world. Many are just extreme metal drummers, full of NOTHING but blazing single strokes. Sebastian is just a master musician, period.

You can tell the heavier sticks require a bit more strain than normal for him :). Nice to see even someone even as amazing as Sebastian still is affected by physics!

All this drummers for this music are interchangeable. Close eyes you don't know who is playing. Hell it could be Portnoy, Manginni, Virgil, all song the same beating the shit out of the drums.

That's because your ears are at amateur level, your internal reference library is empty and you can't discern between their obvious styles/techniques and nuances - aside from their different drum tones :)

Obviously you listened to not enough metal in your life. The differences you're negating are so major for someone with a little bit of ear training. It's like putting Kirk Hammett, John Petrucci and Guthrie Govan in the same camp.
