Back in 2012, Obama’s motorcade drove directly past my house as Michelle was due to speak at one of the local colleges. I tell you, it’s certainly impressive and slightly intimidating when you see it first hand. Saying that the motorcade is “40 to 50 vehicles” is no exaggeration. And then there are all the cops that serve as escorts. It was a really cool thing to see.

Kennedy's Lincoln was also armored after his assassination, it had the largest piece of bent plexiglass ever put into a vehicle. It's also rumored, that in WW2, FDR was driven around in Al Capone's armored Cadillac, although that has been up for dispute.

aside from just pressing the panic button there is actually a voice recognition with a specific line, while pressing the panic button the president also has to shout "go go gadget"

Around 2017, while on the highway driving to the airport, Trump's motorcade was actually on the other side of the highway. We all thought that something had happened, because there were no cars on the other side of the highway for almost 15 minutes. It was actually really cool because we could see Air Force 1 on the runway in the distance. The craziest part about it was that just the local police presence was 40-50 vehicles, let alone the secret service cars and the Beast.

Wow, I didn't know about the beast breaking down because of the fuel. I guess it goes to show that even the smallest task is mission critical. When I visited DC there were what looked like young, possible new secret service guys. It seemed like the car was just too heavy to control and they cut us off going down the road. One guy stuck his head out from the window and waved and mouthed out sorry. The car looked like the beast but had a huge mount gun in the back.( At least it appeared to be through the black glass.) I think that car and those who have to qualify in that heavy thing needs to have some glory too, as it is vital for security as well. I found the car more fascinating as I can see how something that looks and turns on the wheels that heavy can get to speed like other cars. I always wondered who made the engine. BTW anyone know when we can expect to get the new KC-46 and fighter craft yet? I want the government to make a plane that exceeds our current aviation limits for speed and comfort for our airmen.

There are some inaccuracies in this video. Not all of the presidential limousines have been destroyed. Look up information on the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan and you will see that they have a couple on display. And one of them is particularly special.

In the 90s one of the limos from the early 80s was brought to the range on Camp Pendleton and we got to dispose of it. 40mm grenades barley scratched the paint. That particular limo had a Caterpillar engine.

Actually, for domestic trips there are two Beasts, the main one and then an exact duplicate that serves as back up should the first car fail. The very last thing the SS wants is for a President to be stopped somewhere on the side of the road and be vulnerable to attack. And if the motorcade comes under attack, the second car acts as a decoy. The circumstances of each particular foreign trip dictates whether one or both cars are sent on ahead.

When I was in Washington a few years ago, Trump was returning to the white house and he went right by us in the motorcade and there were 3 beasts, not sure which one he was in but I think that's a defense tactic also.
